have you read it?

Press release. Yes. Do you think they lied?

Let's not be essendon fans. Our players can do wrong.

It is exactly the reason.

To be fair. With everything we know about Sydney, the expectation that he become this perfect angel to create this "kid from the wrong side of the track makes good" narrative is a bit unrealistic and sets him up to fail.

He was always going to make mistakes along the way.

Everyone knows that Sydney needed strong mentors with a structured environment to keep him on track.

I am not in the least surprised that he has struggled this year, given all reports that he did zero work during the COVID break, came back unfit, and now has gone and done this given their is no second's league to keep him occupied. Devil finds work for idle hands.

Everyone knows that Tigers took a risk with Stack. A risk is by definition something that has a high probability of not working out.

I wouldn't go and say "look at everything we did for you and you spat it back in our face".

He royally f’ed up, but this year was always going to be hardest on folks like Sydney that need a bit of extra guidance.

He should get sent home, be sent the bill for the fine that he can pay off over 12 months, and him and CCJ can front up to the footy dept staff who have all lost their jobs and taken pay cuts to keep the club going and hear how they feel about it.

After that, start again with him in pre-season, and if he hasn't pulled his head next year, the Tigers know they have done everything they possibly can, but it's time to go separate ways.
Fair point. How many more chances will he get though? I was under the impression that this is sort of his last chance/ straw to prove him self as a professional footballer

Completely agree mate, great take

True, but he was in an isolation hub during a pandemic - with 50 odd peers and leaders by his side...
Not sure how much more 'structured' it could get!

Yep, and with nothing to do.

He was left to his devices for the entire covid break, when what someone like Sydney really needs to positive pressure from his peers which comes from face to face contact with your peers and senior leaders at day to day training.

He is hardly playing seniors, and there is no seconds comp, just a kick and giggle scrimmage.

Sydney was always going to make mistakes along the way. Unfortunately COVID means his mistakes are costly, not just for him, but the club and the AFL broadly.

Presuming all this is confirmed I would be totally ok with sending both these blokes to Balmys place for a bit of his 1970s style education.

Seriously, though I'd be totally comfortable with sacking Stack, he's already proven himself unreliable with his fitness. Its line ball with CCJ for me, I believe in second chances but this is serious enough to warrant immediate sacking. At a minimum CCJ needs to be sent home. Strong message needs to be sent to the rest of the playing group. Big mistake not having Balme up there. Really pissed off.

Definitely not a good situation but the club will work through it. In the scheme of things, and without knowing all the facts, you have to give the players some chance to explain themselves. Is their stuff up any more sackable than others this year (say, senior player crashing into 4 cars whilst under the influence)?

Nah, sacking is overkill imo. Stack should be given a final warning to shape up or his gone. CCJ, just fine and suspend
