I cant believe Richmond people are siding with the AFL on player penalties. This has been a hit job on our club by the AFL. 10 weeks or taking a taxi, going to the strippers and getting a gyros. Our boys were attacked by a drunken slob. They were defending themselves. What did you guys expect - that they were just going to sit there getting bashed by a fat drunken slob? 10 weeks what a disgrace. Didnt deserve more than 2. Footscray player wrecked 4 cars and did far worse and got a few weeks. Make no.mistake this is a hatchet job on our club.

For them not to be out at 3.30am drinking alcahol and getting pissed

Mate, multiple covid breaches in one, they knew they were breaking the rules and the optics of the night are absolutely horrible for the AFL who are kissing the asses of the state governments to have a season running. They got what they deserved.

With regards to Lachie Hunter, the AFL didn’t need to sanction him as I don’t believe he breached the covid protocols.

AFL breaches not state breaches.

The AFL shouldn't have to do any ass kissing. This is massive organisation that brings a lot of economic benefit and instead of state premiers being high and mighty they should be doing a far better job of working with one another and massive organisations like the AFL to help the country through this pandemic. Im not an anti mask wearer or have any Covid conspiracies but I don't believe the situation is so bad that everything must grind to stop like it has in Melbourne or protocols on footballers need to be so extreme. There should be a middle ground and we shouldn't have to be thankful to the likes of WA, SA and Queensland premiers who have helped the game to continue given all the good that comes out of playing the game, even if that is as simple as being able to watch a game whilst locked away in Victoria.

Again the boys deserve to be punished for doing something so stupid and knowingly so but the punishment does not align with the crime they committed. They deserved to be punished for jeopardising this season (not that they really have) and should be punished for this season. But next season should be all new ball game and the AFL should have also factored in this is a lost season for a lot of young players and is basically a throw away season.

mate the AFL is trying to keep the season going. Shit like this just makes the relationship with the QLD government harder. Wouldn’t take much for them to yank the whole thing.

Lol **** andy Maher and bob. He is a disgrace. Said if it was a normal.year it'd be at least 4 to 6 weeks because they were out at 3am and got into a fight.

First it was a bye round so they would of been allowed out late and they got punched unprovoked. It would of been no suspension at all. Dumb ****

Talk about hysteria

100% Agree

Victorians are locked in our houses like prisoners thanks to Dictator Dan and his pathetic excuse of a government and its handling of the hotel fiasco, The players are in sunny queensland in perfect weather training and playing the game they love with the chance to making more money than any of us could dream of earning for the best club in the land. The only thing they need to do is stick within the rules.

Getting pissed at a strip club and getting into a fight (doesnt matter if its their fault as they shouldnt be there) at 3.30 am
Being drunk and out at 330 am is cause for their 10 week suspension alone .

They deserve it. Just F*** Stupid and disrespectful of the club
Spot on

Recon the club went heavy on the suspensions as a bit of a line in the sand to the playing group to start behaving like adults

Personally not offended by a couple of lads getting on the piss and heading to the rippers on the goldy - we have all been there 😜

This reminds me that it wasn't that many years ago that as soon as you heard of an AFL player getting DUI in the off season, you just knew it would be a Richmond player.
Our indiscretions this season just remind me how far we've come from it being the norm.

I actually love you guys who post on a regular basis on bigfooty.com I find it great .and yes I post very rarely but when I feel I have something to say I do,because I'm not on here 24/7 makes me a campaigner?I don't pretend to have a voice on big footy but it doesn't mean what im saying doesn't hold Merritt.
Doesnt mean what people are saying has merit either.

Not whilst you are working and representing your club as well as costing your club

We have got off lightly as it could easily have been points

How would everybody feel if the AFL said 10 points off next season or this season ?

Did i say they we

Not yet.
My point was that it completely different t set of circumstances to port players breach.
You can't compare one to the other, not even in the same ball park and can't make a comparison to ports timing of letting the afl know to what Richmond did. Its a ridiculous comparison.
Mate.....piss off back to your own board...

More like incentive to sign the 300-400k offer that the club in your home state offers you alongside 22 guaranteed games rather than accepting 150-200k and maybe getting a game. I don't think making young players pay the fine is the way to go about it, yes punish them but make them have to clean the gym after training for the entirety of next season or something along those lines. The club can afford to pay the fines and whilst the players ideally would pay it for ******* up I would rather the club pay it for them and the players give back in other ways and reward us with loyalty long term than look to pay it off and flee for the best offer so it doesn't sting their back pocket.
Yeah..sadly I think this is what will happen.. Stack to Fremantle or West Coast.. And CCJ back home to Adelaide on $250,000 to $300,000 deals and in the years to come they will of course have blinders every time they play us

**** we have a new CEO?
Old mate Tommy Browne just crossed to Richmond CEO Brenton Sanderson but all good.
He cleared it up by saying he got his Brendons mixed up. 🍺🤪🥴

Hope its a lesson not only for the Tiges but all clubs. Bring the strippers to the hub, therefore eliminating all temptation for those players who are inclined to want to go see them by breaking restrictions and leaving the hub.
