Like everyone else who gets caught for a covid breach.$1650.

One is State based infringement notice in relation to Covid19, the other is an AFL sanction fine on the Club. Don't think the boys breached the State based laws other that some sort of affray which cost them both $800 each apparently.

The issue with the AFL sanctions is these where put in place to win over State governments support for operation of the hubs, and it was the operation of the hubs with thir strict rules, protocols and penalties that allowed the AFL season to even proceed and avoid potential financial disaster for the AFL, all Clubs and the players and many staff. It's not rocket surgery!

Plenty of our supporters have said kick em out of the club on the forums. You talk about doing the crime lol ... its like they got 30 years for not paying a parking ticket. The boys were attacked for no reason by a drunk. How about we defend our boys rather than throw them under a bus. Thats the Rivhmond way.
Media hype compared to the average man/ woman’s outlook are completely different.

And the people that get on social media platforms to crucify these kids are generally grandstanders “look at me types”

The average Joe thinks ok silly decision but who hasn’t done dumb sh!t in their youth. Particularly in a football club environment where you have lots of young impressionable kids living together

But it is brain science

I just wonder how it cant be expected that 20 yr old boys who have been into the beers after being stuck lookin at the same faces for months arent expected to want to go out and chase tail.
Like I said I dunno if it wasnt laid out at the end of the night at the 21st.
But theyre charged up fit young blokes.
Of course theyre going to want to

They would have well and truly known. They went back to their room and drank there first. They decided, with the help of alcohol, they were above all that in the moment. It happened after midnight. I get the 'chase tail' argument, but the stakes are just too high, and they would have known, as well having known the consequences in the cool light of day. To what point does a Club have to be 100% responsible? When can it say, we educated, we explained, now it is on you to protect us all?

Brendon Gale's statement vs social media nastiness. I'll go with CEO thanks. The penalty SS & CJ got was from the AFL guideline::
"SECOND OFFENCE – up to $75,000 sanction (plus $25,000 from first offence) - $100,000 included in 2020 Soft cap. The 10 weeks I'm not sure where that came from. Seems harsh compared to Sideass's 4.
There's a set of rules called Return to Play protocols that extend to players, officials & family. I don't have the details about what they are allowed to do outside the hub but they obviously don't include strip clubs, kebabs, fights & cops at 4AM. SS & CJ's decision to be out of the hub is the problem. The fight is irrelevant to their penalty. Although maybe thats why they got 10 weeks not 4.

Continued drinking.
Im not saying those two arent responsible for their actions, they are.
I’m saying unfortunately the club will be seen as being responsible also or lacking player management.
They are young blokes probably frustrated, definitely a bit pissed.
You need to be on them and at them.
Maybe they where but it doesnt look that way.
Why would the club CEO say he was embarrased?
It’s a reflects poorly on the club.

Is it true we have 2 different hubs with dimma and others staying at a different one from the players.?

Feck 'em both...flick them at the end of the year...up for trade!
Both too stupid to understand the covid bubble rules...and are not contributing to the Richmond culture...byeeee
Surely they knew the rules and consequences of breach for club. It wasn’t a “mistake” like Cotch’s wife. Made a conscious decision to break rules and put club at risk of further sanctions and media rubbish. Playing group will be furious. They’re gone.
Stuff their mental health. They’ve abused a privileged situation versus many others, especially back in Vic. Now they can cop it.
Stop whingeing/blaming Govt, club leadership. You can’t stop 2 guys breaking rules if that’s what they choose to do on their days off and think they are above what the rest of the AFL community need to abide by to all keep their industry operating. And why the hell would people think they shouldn’t pay the fine personally and be accountable? If they didn’t want to play by the COVID/AFL/QLD Govt/Club rules they should have pissed off back to Victoria!

How are they going to chase tail at a strippers joint??

More likely to pick up jail bait

I think this year s done for them obviously, next year last chance. Work hard in off season

If we trade them off they will be stigmatised, I would keep them and hopefully they come back better and wiser, stronger and more driven and help drive us in 2021.

What is relevant for them is how they respond and grow in 2021. If nothing really changes get rid of them end of 2021 is how I would deal with the situation. Ball is in their court. The biggest problem is the disregard for their team mates and club and what they were trying to do together in supposedly achieving their goals

What is also relevant is how the players and team in the hub respond and commit to looking after each other and ensure in a proper manner, caring manner the chances of similar episodes get mitigated and our focus on our on field goals are heightened with a stronger team mentality!

They used an Uber and visited an unauthorized venue. They caused the club to be fined $100k and one step closer to risk of losing premiership points.
Nothing to do with being drunk or attacked. What is there to defend?
They’re adults, professional athletes, who can comprehend the rules of the industry. Selfish, immature dickheads.
The Richmond way is to be accountable for your actions.

Club CEO would be embarrassed because it was off a club player birthday event was it not??

Ok right.
Still don't see how the club can ask for the players to pay for a "Corporate" fine.
A 10 game suspension already reduces their earning capacity.

The leagues perspective yes.
What’s the state government got to do with it? I still don’t understand that. The players serve quarantine outside of the hub so they not? Therefore the only chance of AFL players getting Covid is from the outer. The general public. How were the players any different from the drunk that assaulted them other than being regularly tested, tracked and relatively isolated?

When there is community transmission going on (as there has been at low levels in QLD) players exposing themselves to the general public in a non-approved venue which doesn't apply covid-safe protocols is very much the AFL and the state government's business, IMO.

If they had gone back to our hub after that night out (especially if their breach didn't get discovered straight away) I think there's a solid chance the state CMO would have had little choice but to put our whole squad into quarantine all over again, which would have been a disaster for all concerned on a number of levels.

Did they drink at the birthday party or in their room after the party?

CCJ can stay as he’s only stuffed up once but Stack can go as he’s had enough chances. I reckon he’s a bit of an unprofessional knob too.
You don't say. A young bloke that has had it hard his whole life (if you've read about his upbringing), struggles with the rigours of AFL, compounded by Covid/hubs/isolation, and doesn't have all the tools to deal with it. He's not some privileged kid from the Grammar schools. The only thing is has he the ability to get through this. Right now he needs all the support he can get, especially from Richmond people. Sure he did the wrong thing, he went out when he shoudn't have, not like he hurt anyone, assaulted or worse. If he get's through this, and there is a chance he won't, then he will come back better. Stack has so much talent it would be such a shame not to use it.... at Richmond.

What did he say? Link?
He clashed with BT over it. He was sympathetic and said he felt sorry for them because they’re under heaps of pressure and cop a lot of criticism. He acknowledged it was a big mistake but said he feels for them. Then BT went hard on them. Was on CH7 and came up on Twitter.
