aflw needs to go so we can keep our vfl teamSurely if the VFL team is in trouble then the AFLW is too.
kill the stupid womens afl team off and have a stand alone vfl side next year
nobody cares about womens footy. especially if it means we wont have a vfl side
If they were WCE players, I would expect them to pay regardless of what they earn. To me the fight was irrelevant as it looked like they had no option but to defend themselves from what looked like an unprovoked attack but they simply shouldn't have been there. They would have had the rules drummed into them so have no excuse. Stupidity is stupidity regardless of what one earns.I agree, I understand the club is furious, but honestly I think it was unprofessional of Gale to publicly announce that the players would pay before that's been confirmed, and I regard him very highly. The players association have come out and said they can't be forced to pay unless they volunteer, and the manager has said he shouldn't pay so it's pretty clear he won't. And frankly if I were stack I wouldn't, he's in his second year on a pretty low salary (after rookie wages last year), and after his fiasco there's no guarantee he'll get another contract, in which case 37.5k is enormous.
It's a terrible situation and the players are obviously at fault, but a messy public dispute about money is the absolute last thing we need and would completely destroy any future prospects with the players, not to mention the personal toll it would take on them. Should all be happening behind closed doors

Let's see if they have any projected earnings from which to garnish first. The Debt, as you call it, is not theirs. It is the Club's. What contribution may be made is yet to be ratified it would seem from what has been said so far.

phil cleary will be raptback to coburg we go then
What's your ongoing obsession with Tom Elliott? Did he turn your cat into a Dim Sim or something?

He means it's not rubbish talk from Caro saying that our VFL team is gone.
On principle I agree - you do the crime you pay the fine, however we do have to take into account the circumstances as ultimately the club's interest comes over what's fair, so what will be the effect of a drawn out public battle over who pays? what will be the impact on the players seeing their mates (who did **** up but even still) potentially going into debt paying off this massive fine? Just saying I don't think it's as simple as what's fair or notIf they were WCE players, I would expect them to pay regardless of what they earn. Maybe we go back to aligning with another club rather than a stand-alone VFL club.He means it's not rubbish talk from Caro saying that our VFL team is gone.
Election or sanity?
I don't know if Caro said the 100k was the tipping point.$100k tips us over the edge re the VFL team? I'm calling bullshit. Things must be more serious than an extra $100k.
Isn't the AFLW already been announced that it's done and RFC have withdrawn?Surely if the VFL team is in trouble then the AFLW is too.
withdrawn from the VFLW comp, not AFLWIsn't the AFLW already been announced that it's done and RFC have withdrawn?
I'm sure it will, and I'm equally sure that the players won't pay but my view is that they should. If clubs are going to be held responsible for their player's transgressions (and there is talk of penalties such as loss of premiership points for another transgression), maybe they should demand their players wear trackers. There is a little thing called Capacity to Pay. I'm not saying that it determines everything but it comes into the discussion - and will!
