It does seem unusual that he's already back in WA, but it is possible that it's something arranged with the club, right? Could have a wedding to return home for or some other reason, and the club have negotiated a training regime for him?
Otherwise you'd think the club would have made a comment. I doubt they send him home, likely ending his career at the club, and then just don't comment until the media notice and they get forced to react. They'd want to get on the front foot and control the narrative.

You are never as fit when you do the work on your own as you are when you do it in groups, like all bar Stack and CCJ have done for the last 6 months, not 2 like the rest of the list. No surprise that he is near the back of the group.
If he is back home there may be a legit reason, or it may be due to attitude. Either way until the club comment non of us have any idea.

Going out New Years Eve like every other footballer. It is a bit odd that the club hasn't said anything, but that's a bit of a stretch.

Potentially but it's looking bad if you start putting what we know together. Came back to training with the other young guys, reported to be struggling, has now been in Perth for awhile with all the other young guys are working hard at training?

Looking for Perth NYE tickets is another bad sign of he's not coming back. Something is going on and I'm sure it will come out soon.

Yup it's not the fact he's looking for NYE event tickets but rather the fact the event is in Perth.

Unless he is piss-poor with money and plans to fly back to Melbourne to train for a week and then back to Perth for New Years it tells me he won't be back to Punt Road before January.

Clearly not in perth for a family emergency

The chances of him being allowed to go back to perth after 3 months away from the team and then flaunt this crap on social media being allowed by the team are extremely low.

Gonski imo

Does that mean we’ve wasted a list spot like we did when Rance ****ed us on Christmas Eve last year?

Gonski? Even if he is sacked by us he takes up a spot on our list for 2021 right?

Unfortunately if this eventuates then thats what would happen. He would remain on the list until the end of the season and we will go into 21' a player short

It’s a 2 week training block, players then return back to training the second week of Jan, would be pretty standard that he’d be spending that period back in Perth with family. If he’s not at the club on Jan 6, then there’s a story.

I think thats a normal scenario if there was no other issue's in the past or if he had not come to melbourne for a couple of days then to train the way he did but i get the feeling this is a different case.

If Baker had of stayed or stays in WA and comes back after jan - Nobody would blink an eye but after 3 months away not to be itching to be back with the boys its alarm bells for me. Hope he turns it around and comes back bigger and better but wont hold my breath i think

But who knows

Everything is a bit different this year. Later training, some VFL clubs haven't even started training yet. It does seem strange to come back for a few days and then leave, but who knows anything really. If you were betting you wouldn't be putting money on Stacky to come back, but mainly because we don't have a clue what's going on.

Until the club actually comes out and says someting them we can all just presume its ok with the club, But this is a footy forum and we have people who watch training and put 2 and 2 together sometimes it equals 4 but sometimes it equals 13 so lets just hope he has his head straight and makes a career but if it goes the other way then so be it just file him in the Troy Taylor, Chris Yarran , Ben Cousins , Reece McKenzie and Carl Peterson basket.

Still a non issue for me until something concrete comes out either through the media (you’d think it would’ve by now) or the club.

Nobody knows if this was already organised between the club and him to do the first week back and head home, if something had come up that required him to head home or he just left (highly doubtful).

Plus this whole trained poorly stuff, how do you determine that? Because he looked cooked? Because he struggled in running drills against players that will always be better runners than him?

Stack could well have been allowed to return early due to WA quarantine requirements.

As he has been training with players/coaches who may have come back from SA, he is required to quarantine for 14 days. So the club may well have allowed him to return last week to ensure that he'd be able to see family and friends for Christmas Day, as it was reported that to finish the 14 days quarantine, people must have begun their quarantine period prior to Friday 11th December.

FWIW here is the link to WA quarantine requirements. https://www.wa.gov.au/organisation/...oronavirus-controlled-interstate-border?1#vlr

Even though Victoria is rated a very low state, anyone who came from SA to return to training is classified as being from a low risk state and would impact him being able to return home without having to quarantine.

I hope were not wasting a rookie spot here rather get a kid who going put 100% in.
Wasting a rookie spot? If Tom Lynch was doing this I'd be worried about list management. A player picked up on the SPP draft and on the rookie list costing minimum payments. Stack has actually played good AFL football for us, so he's less of a bust than someone who never played. Turner et al. The ball is in Stack's court, there's a spot for him in 2021 but theres a mountain of challenges in front of him
