Is Sydney the only person in Australia to have done this or the only one with any profile? It seems in Vic we had people actually breaking the directions by babysitting each other’s kids and actively spreading the disease and not even getting fined.
As far as I’m aware SS had to quarantine because his flight stopped in Adelaide for an hour or so. IF he got any further jail time there’s a discrimination element to this.
Call me a fan boy but this is so over the top.

The last 3 weeks of this thread have been arguing this point, with a few diversions, those for and those against.

I guess we all hope the penny has dropped, he gets some support to start training, surely Richmond will organise that, and he get's back to Melb in a few weeks in some sort of shape. Would have been a tough few weeks, so interesting to see how he responds. Essentially SS is a good kid I think. Players like Prestia and Houli have said so in interviews, so you would think the club and players will get around him. By the time the season starts for him, he could be in good shape.

There should be no physical barriers now for Sydney to commence his training from this point in time. Probably help his mental state to start a Richmond training program in WA that is organized, supervised and monitored professionally by RFC through Peos. It could run through a WAFL club. Maybe South Freo?

From this point, it is important for to develop a supervised regiment for Sydney. I hope this includes some time dedicated indigenous cultural education and social work in the learning experience.

Freestyle for Sydney tends to result in sadness, regret, conflict and incarceration. Freestyle will give Sydney a harsh life.

• Did the WA government force or coerce Sydney to sign an agreement to enter WA against his will?
• Did the WA police force Sydney to break isolation and move residence?
• Did the WA police force Sydney to go to Northbridge?
• Did the WA police instigate the fight to ensnare Sydney?

Clutching at straws to say there is a discrimination element after all the only person responsible was Sydney.

Sydney broke bio-security directives that he agreed too when he entered the state potentially putting peoples lives at risk.

WA may have the harshest laws dealing with COVID breeches but the citizens of WA support it, these laws have been applied to other people including jail time.

While I acknowledge there are issues regarding ATSI incarceration levels, programs are being implemented like TWES (Time to Work Employment Service) to address issues for reoffending.

Victoria and WA have different rules, and no Sydney us not the only one in the slammer for this, he is a serial offender=ender in breaking Covid regulations under various juristrictions, whilst it was harsh being in the slammer over Xmas and new year , his incarceration was at the lower end of the spectrum.

if he had stayed at Northam or Belmont and not gone out on the piss at Northbridge none of this would have happened, just like if he hadn’t gone out on the piss on the Gold Coast he wouldn’t have got10 weeks and 100 k.

the kid has an issue with UDL cans and Swan Lager,that needs to be addressed

Nobody is arguing that he did the wrong thing. But the punishment does not fit the crime no matter how you look at it. Sydney did the wrong thing no doubt. But 3 weeks in Jail before a he even gets a bail hearing is excessive in anyone’s language. But judging how WA treats their indigenous inmates I’m not surprised

has been granted bail and released from jail after spending weeks behind bars for allegedly breaching WA's coronavirus quarantine restrictions.

Stack was jailed on December 19 and spent Christmas in Perth's Hakea prison before being released on Friday.

He will appear in court again on January 20.

His manager, Paul Peos, said Stack needed to focus on recovering from his ordeal in the coming weeks, and thanked the Tiger rookie's supporters.

"We are very relieved and pleased to have Syd released on bail today and grateful that the Supreme Court agreed with our position on the matter," Peos said in a statement.

"We have been overwhelmed with messages and offers of support from all around Australia for Sydney and must also say a public thankyou for the ongoing support of the Richmond Football Club in terms of his welfare.

"It has been a terribly challenging time for Sydney and our focus is on his near and longer term well-being. He has a significant period of physical, mental and spiritual healing and rehabilitation in front of him and we request some privacy as he works through these immediate challenges."


Stack was charged in mid-December with failing to comply with a direction after allegedly being found out on the town in Northbridge during his compulsory self-isolation period, having entered WA from Victoria on a flight that stopped over in South Australia.

WA's border with SA remains closed after a recent coronavirus scare.


Stack was granted approval to enter WA on compassionate grounds on December 10 for his grandfather's funeral.

He was issued with a direction to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days at a nominated address in Northam, about 97km from Perth.

But he was allegedly found by police at 1.10am on Saturday, December 19 in the party district of Northbridge.

It was also identified he had been staying at a residence in Belmont and not at his nominated quarantine address.
