In older classes this gets a laugh:

"I helped my uncle Jack off a horse" - you be the judge;)

'A terribly challenging time': Stack released from jail

RICHMOND'S Sydney Stack has been granted bail and released from jail after spending weeks behind bars for allegedly breaching WA's coronavirus quarantine restrictions.

Stack was jailed on December 19 and spent Christmas in Perth's Hakea prison before being released on Friday.

He will appear in court again on January 20.

His manager, Paul Peos, said Stack needed to focus on recovering from his ordeal in the coming weeks, and thanked the Tiger rookie's supporters.

"We are very relieved and pleased to have Syd released on bail today and grateful that the Supreme Court agreed with our position on the matter," Peos said in a statement.

"We have been overwhelmed with messages and offers of support from all around Australia for Sydney and must also say a public thankyou for the ongoing support of the Richmond Football Club in terms of his welfare.

"It has been a terribly challenging time for Sydney and our focus is on his near and longer term well-being. He has a significant period of physical, mental and spiritual healing and rehabilitation in front of him and we request some privacy as he works through these immediate challenges."

Stack was charged in mid-December with failing to comply with a direction after allegedly being found out on the town in Northbridge during his compulsory self-isolation period, having entered WA from Victoria on a flight that stopped over in South Australia.

WA's border with SA remains closed after a recent coronavirus scare.

Stack was granted approval to enter WA on compassionate grounds on December 10 for his grandfather's funeral.

He was issued with a direction to self-quarantine for a period of 14 days at a nominated address in Northam, about 97km from Perth.

But he was allegedly found by police at 1.10am on Saturday, December 19 in the party district of Northbridge.

It was also identified he had been staying at a residence in Belmont and not at his nominated quarantine address.

Stack and Tigers teammate Callum Coleman-Jones broke the AFL's return-to-play protocols during that night out, which ended up with them being involved in a fight at about 3.30am. Richmond were subsequently fined $100,000.
Bloody unnecessary to keep him locked up in isolation that long, especially if he has mental health problems.
Peos says, 'He has a significant period of physical, mental and spiritual healing and rehabilitation in front of him and we request some privacy "
What's the physical healing needed or is that just an expression?

Nobody is arguing that he did the wrong thing. But the punishment does not fit the crime no matter how you look at it. Sydney did the wrong thing no doubt. But 3 weeks in Jail before a he even gets a bail hearing is excessive in anyone’s language. But judging how WA treats their indigenous inmates I’m not surprised

had to go to the Supreme Court to get his bail hearing

Here's a guess.

Sydney has his own bubble that is psychologically well documented for males 15 - 25. Best word is "bulletproof". Longer version is, extreme actions taken not expecting any significant reactions. The significant reactions have now occurred. Given Peos' statement.

The reactions extend past the law requirements into the cultural living fields. There if probably also mob reputation at play here. These are Sydney's heavy responsibilities to address.

As we all should know, "no man is an "island".

The learnings should not stop with Sydney. Given this whole sad and sorry set of events that started with and included CCJ (another young player). The RFC has some learnings too. RFC will ask itself if needed/ required again, how can we better preserve our responsibility to maintain a bubble?

So as not to confuse and re post on this. The above sentence is made due to, rightly or wrongly, that the AFL fined RFC for the breach of the Qld quarantine and protested / prohibited player fines. Therefore in the opinion of the AFL, RFC were irresponsible to let Sydney and Callum out of the bubble.

Victoria and WA have different rules, and no Sydney us not the only one in the slammer for this, he is a serial offender=ender in breaking Covid regulations under various juristrictions, whilst it was harsh being in the slammer over Xmas and new year , his incarceration was at the lower end of the spectrum.

if he had stayed at Northam or Belmont and not gone out on the piss at Northbridge none of this would have happened, just like if he hadn’t gone out on the piss on the Gold Coast he wouldn’t have got10 weeks and 100 k.

the kid has an issue with UDL cans and Swan Lager, that needs to be addressed
He was never saying at Belmont to start with. He lied to the police over that address, just like he lied to them he only left Northam to go to Perth for a covid test.

I'd say that was why quarantine in a low level remand section similar to other quarantine breakers was the " only" option.

Wouldn't be surprised if Richmond have given him a no- alcohol directive as well.

Do you realise quarantine IS isolation?

I was under the impression he intended to stay in Belmont but left after heated arguments with relatives? If that were true, he certainly should have let the authorities know where he was moving to?
Regardless, his focus now has be be on getting himself in a good space mentally, and if he truly realises he does want to make the sacrifices and commit to the discipline required for a successful AFL career, he, along with RFC, needs to arrange programs in place to get himself fit and firing by the time the reserves grade comp starts🤞

Yes I do Bazz. You must be dissapointed that Sydney is out of jail now.
I'm happy he is out because he has completed his quarantine.

Hope this is the wakeup call for him as a young man aswell as a Richmond player.,

It was reported in the WA media his family in Belmont denied he was staying or arranged to stay there, he was staying with mates. (Probably the ones he was caught fighting with)

The police check on addresses, similar to the woman early in the week who gave a false address for bail, was caught and sent back to prison (in max security)

I think most on here recognise that Stack was wrong in what he did, but maximum security seems very heavy handed to me. I would have thought there might have been a less aggressive stance to take. He is not a criminal other than by technicality. Mentally we have no idea how Stack will take this, it could send him in a spiral, after all prison is fairly synonymous with that, especially in indigenous kids.

So Ari whose alias are you since you like playing the man a fair bit
I've just said two things to Bazz re the constant Stack attack. There's no need for it.
He's a troubled young man that needs our help imo.

Fair enough, as I said, I thought he left Belmont after a disagreement with relatives

Stack didn't do to max security, the woman who breached her bail conditions did.

Stack was in the minimum security remand section of Hakea doing quarantine like many others are doing

has been treated differently to other cases including having to have a Supreme Court hearing on his bail

He was taken into custody and faced court on Friday, where a magistrate sentenced him to two months in jail for the breaches and six months behind bars for driving with a disqualified licence.

The man is among at least five others in the state who have also received jail terms for breaches of WA's strict quarantine requirements.

I’ve always wondered what a sovereign citizen bbq would look like. Have fun!

Was he indigenous?
There was zero chance Stack had the virus and there was no reason to lock him for quaranteen for 17 days.
WA's record on Indigenous issues is pretty bad and on the record so I agree with Jason Misfud
