Just who I think we can get at around the picks we have:

23- Sam Colquhoun
Rebounding defender that should take over the likes of Mattner/Malceski/Shaw

45- Khan Haretuku
23 year old Forward who was delisted by the Saints but has enjoyed a good year at Frankston and Is worth a shot seeing as it is unlikely that we will get Kurt Tippett

47- Matthew McDonough
Small forward from Adelaide, Lucky if he slips through but seeing as we don't have small forwards would fit in well.

66- Harley Montgomery
Another small defender like Colquhoun that would replace Shaw etc

67- Kamdyn McIntosh/Jackson Thurlow
Both tall defenders, both underrated and could fall down the order.

In the rookie draft, Brandon Jack could make his way to the Swans if he doesnt get picked up.
Thoughts?

Once again , unless you work for the club you wouldn't know and in the history of the draft, unless you have a priority pick its a Lotto

The only reliable prediction you can make is that we'll pick a potato with our first round pick and 1 or 2 100 game players with our 4 later selections.
I do wonder how our recruitment staff can be so terrible at picking players with our first pick :p

Its just lucky we do not need to rely on our first draft picks to replenish our playing list otherwise we would be screwed.

Just imagine if we got 3-4 200+ game players in one draft/trade period........ *looks distantly out into the yonder with visions of a certain bloods dynasty......*

EDIT: Slaps himself and wakes up. Moves on.

Defenders are a must. With a majority of our back line retiring over the next couple of years, we;ll need to start blooding some through.

Definitely need a young ruck man. Mumford, Pyke, LRT & White is not good enough. Especially considering LRT is in his 30's, Pyke nearing his 30's and White will be extremely lucky to get a new contract beyond next year. Then there's Mumford, a star player at his best but cannot put together a full season.

Bolton, Richards (through trade), Jetta (not our first pick that year) and McVeigh are the only players from our grand final team who cost us first round picks. Adding to that Jetta and Richards were late first round selections. Very impressive in my opinion we were able to achieve so much without players from high draft picks other teams have.

Has there been a grand final team (winning or losing) with fewer first round draft picks than ours?

Im not sure if It highlights how well we have done with later picks or how bad we have been with our later first round draft picks. probably a mixture of the two.

We need a young ruckman that can play forward, and we need a key defender. Rebounding defender is probably the third option, and then a goalsneak forward the fourth.

Ruck can wait til the rookie draft I think. We have Mumford and Pyke at the moment to be our senior side's 2 ruckmen and then Tippett (probably), White and LRT as possibilities to step in. If one of them goes down long term, promote the rookie listed ruckman.
