Its crazy how this time last season I didn't want Adams in the side but now a year later and a year older for him and I want him back in because our contested ball situation at times this year has been poor and we need to get McInerney out of the contest and running on the outside as he gets caught way too much in the middle

You would think Hamling would play in defence for continuity. We are missing Melican for 3 games. I don't think we can get away with playing one KPD for that long.

I can still see Paton being the sub since he is coming back from a minor injury. Also they might want to keep him involved and reward his previous good VFL form. Paton coming on as sub late might mean moving Hamling/Blakey forward if we are chasing the game.

Though Paton into the 23 is a surprise. I guessed it would be out of Hanily/Ladhams/Buller.

But if they start Paton. It could be if they are worried about Essendon's half forwards like Nic Martin or Kako. Or worried about the run from their midfield like Merritt, Shiel, Durham and Caldwell.
