Senior List
I would like to know what the different supporters think would be the best team their club could field from their list next season.

I have posted what I think may be the best team for all clubs.

The Swans
McPherson Dunkley Seymour
Warfe Schauble Nicks
Schwass Kelly Maxfield
Lewis Fitzgerald O’Loughlin
Crouch Goodes Saddington
Stafford Williams Cresswell

Interchange
Luff Matthews Tingay Ahmat

I have included Matthews at the cost of Fosdike and the recruiting of Williams and the return of Kelly have cost John Stevens and Nick Fosdike their spots.

Not bad amazonstud, not bad at all

Crouch is more of a defender than a forward and McPherson has a reputation as a more than useful goal kicker (for a small guy he has a kick like a mule)

so swap those two around, I think

Williams I would be inclined to rotate off the bench in a 'pinch-hitting' type role, I think his explosive pace and prodigous goal kicking make him a real 'impact' type player (our Jarmen, if you will) In his place I would like to see Jude Bolton given a go at 1R.

Also Lewis just hasn't got what it takes on the HF flank, I would be inclined to swap him with Saddo in the forward pocket. Lewis is a better goalsneak than a winger and vice-versa for Saddo (although Saddo is very versatile and can play anywhere really)

so here goes :

Crouch Dunkley Seymour
Warfe Schauble Nicks
Schwass Kelly Maxfield
Saddington Fitzgerald O'Loughlin
McPherson Goodes Lewis
Stafford Bolton Cresswell

Interchange : Luff Williams Matthews Ahmat

Emergencies : Tingay Fosdike Stevens Doyle

cheers

jubjub,
No McAveney not straightforward enough. Get sick of the commentators not telling us the truth. Find the internet and supporters groups are the most honest.

I just love football. Used to be there at 10.00am so I could watch the ressies play and see who was coming up. Wish the AFL hadn't got rid of the ressies and under 19's.
Porr planning and foresight by the marketing people at the AFL.

Like most supporters would have given my eye teeth to be able to play at AFL level and get upset when talent is wasted by lack of application. But it doesn't matter which team is playing on TV I sit down and watch it on tape or live. Then I like to try and disect the teams.

Been watching the footy for a few years now and I remember standing in the rain at Albert Park watching the ball bob up and down in the water on the wing. I think it was about 2 feet deep. Remember the Junction Oval which had the best playing surface in the VFL.

Best mates are Pie, Blue and Bomber supporters and we used to disect the teams on Friday in the pub. The Friday group also consisted of a Cats, Dees, Swans, and Tiger supporter. Used to give each other heaps. ROFL

Given Eade's preference for rotating players and experimenting with players out of position I would have thought that these placing were somewhat academic.

Commenting on BSA's selections---

(1) I'd like to see crouch running with ball in hand more, not so much as a defender (he's very fast)

(2) how can you start with matthews on the bench? he was one of the best, consistent, and most improved players the swans had in 2000. always gave 100%

(3) bring fitzgerald into play off the bench and start with ahmat on the ground. fitzy's still got a lot to learn (but I guess it depends on whether he's managed to bulk up in off-season or not)

(4) ??? maxfield off the bench (to save those aging legs)

(5) omit stevens all together (not a good footballer at all in my opinion)

(6) agree with bolton's inclusion at expense of others

(7) send Mr Ball to the retirement home for a food fight in the cafeteria

thanks I'll stand corrected on a couple of those points.

Sooner or later Ryan Fitzgerald has to stand up and be counted, I realise he has to bulk up and learn the finer points of taking a contested mark, but, throw him in the deep end and lets see what he is made of.

His brilliant start to last season was not an abberation - he can play and what better way to get his confidence up thatn to piuck him in the seniors and leave him there.

cheers

Yup, the fine art of subtley using the arms and elbows to nudge your opponent out of the contest (er, not in the back, in the side

), and thus, splitting the pack for the easy mark, or if you don't grab it, to pass the pill onto a player running by and into the open goal. Copyright, Wayne Carey.

On the Swans some interesting choices. Is Luff still required, would have thought by now he would be pushed into the erm realm. What with the likes of Fitzgerald,Doyle and Ball all pushing down the list of 'tall' options. Btw wheres Leo Barry? Thought he had shown a little (to little to often though) bit of talent on occasions.

well said grendel

I agree, in my opinion this is a make or break year for leaping leo

he must live up to the promise that barrassi saw in him (or rather live it down, which ever you think is more correct) or risk being traded

I may have even been tempted to trade him this year while he was still relatively young...

just a thought... others may disagree

luffy's ok. sure he falls down at least a few times in each match when he attempts to go up for a mark. but as a "cult icon" he's definitely a "required" player--in the team for pure entertainment (and in my case frustration) value. afterall can't have a team without a few frustration players
