Hmm, well according to the reserves reports on RWO, he didn't exactly shine in the reserves the previous week and Bird played arguably his best game against Richmond. So it was kind of surprising that Barlow got the nod. I think if Fosdike was fit, he would probably have played instead.

I agree with the RWO reports. Cheese wasn't too flashy; I would rate Matty O'Dwyer above him at this stage.

Moore, Ablett, Jolly all had far worse games than Cheese.

Seriously guys, blokes dont get picked or dropped on one game, especially with limited 'on ground' time.

Well unless your name is N.Davis

I am biased but this game made me think Davis surely deserves a call up. Need a reliable finisher sometimes.

Well we got out of jail on this one and I hope that we push on from this as a huge learning curve. What a win though I've never been so proud of such a heartened fight back. Other than a few finals of course

Some old idiot on the way out of the ground told us the umpires had "gifted" us the win. Sweet win!

Good second half by the boys. The usual suspects got us over the line, Kirk, Goodes, and McVeigh were enormous. Jude Bolton has one of his best games of the season. The run off the backline was the key to the win with Mattner, Kennelly and Malceski playing their best game as a unit for the season. Malceski was superb, finding 28 possessions at 75% disposal efficiency, once he gets his pace back he will be back to last year's devastating form.
Moore has struggled a bit since his BOG against Port Adelaide, but he is still young and inconsistency is expected. Barlow was quite but I'd give him another week. I think Ablett found form in the last quarter, winning some important contested ball and setting Buchanan's goal in the last quarter. Ted Richards is a good defender but I don't want him with the ball when we need to ice the clock, he seems to panick a bit. Leo Barry got outplayed by Lynch. Our ruck duo struggled (Everitt was ok) but Cox helped West Coast dominate the clearences in the 1st half. When he kicked that ball back to Mattner I almost had a heart attack. Playfair will probably make way for Barry Hall.

Changes for St.Kilda:
Out; Goodes (suspended), Playfair
In: Hall, Bird (maybe Fosdike, but I think Roosy was resting Bird).

Barlow was soft today, Bird would have got stuck in.

I say next week:
In: Hall
Out: Barlow

If Goodes is suspended bring back Bird.

"IF" Goodes is suspended???
he's gone, two weeks minimum
and yes, barlow was awful

Yeah, Barlow was well and truly off the pace tonight.

And can someone explain to me how LRT continues to get a game? He has to be close to the least skilled player in the entire AFL. I know he has his defenders on here, but my god he's awful most of the time.....including tonight.

Still can't believe we got away with that one - crucial win though if we're going to make the top 4. Fantastic.

i'm sorry, i AM a defender of his
buw how was LRT awful? i can't believe he cops it so much
his running style's weird, but he was more effective tonight than richards and barry (again, like the port game), and was our only decent tall defender at all in the first half
he made space and provided a link out of defence when even kennelly was struggling early
he contested hard, and at least made lynch work when barry was moved off lynch in the last term

i reckon this may as well be the last time i bother to say anything about him
some of you people should pick a new scapegoat

People are harsh in their judgment on LRT because he doesn't look or move like a footballer. I'll always remember him for his first half in the GF, he was dominate. He is a good tall defender and can drift forward occasionally. Roosy rates him and I think he is an important player for the side, in terms of structure.
As Rancid said, Leo Barry is the weak link this season. He has been way down on form (lost his sense of awareness) and wouldn't be surprised if this was his last season or second last. Richards is good 1-on-1, but he isn't a good decision maker when rebounding out of defense.
You can't judge defenders on their skill, its thier defensive capabilities. Andrew Dunkley was the worst kick I'd ever seen, but he was a great defender. So people need to lay off LRT a bit.

It's hard to find one this year, we've always had McVeigh and Bevan before so we had to find someone new :D

Actually, I'm with you on Lewie, love him to bits and I think one of the big differences between our team last year to this is his inclusion. I thought he was pretty good last night.

are you ******ed? hahah

verrry true but im glad we dont have an excuse to pay out on them now...good to see them in better form this year

so anyway i nearly had a heartattack about 10 times over
one of the most suspensful games ive been to!!
but well worth it...in the end :D

I thought western swan was calling you ******ed because he wasn't happy with your suggested changes or maybe he doesn't think Goodes will be suspended.... it's hard to tell.

For what it's worth I have watched the replay of the Goodes incident a few times now and I think my initial assessment of the situation in this thread was wrong. He probably should be outed for about 1 week.

I just wish he could serve his suspension against Melbourne in 2 weeks rather than against St Kilda next week (no offence Melbourne fans).

Changes for the St.Kilda match. We play them next week. Most people would know what I meant.
sure sure

To sum up, it was AGAIN an undisciplined act by Goodes in the Heat of play. He's got to realise, that as one of our prime movers he is going to be tagged and targetted like he was by the West Coast players last night from the first bounce, in most if not all games he plays from now on.

The AFL is all about protecting the head as "sacrisanct" and although it was not front on contact and fairly minimal, I am expecting him to get atleast one if not two weeks.

Atleast GOODSEY settled down pretty quickly after the report and played the inspired brand of football we all know he can play. His marking in general play and knock on to Malceski in the last quarter were very important towards us sneaking the win.

The Port Adelaide & West Coast wins are both "eight" point games. We have to take St Kilda to the cleaners this week and play the game on our terms not theirs. Hopefully Big Bad will be ready to shake what spirt is left out of them. :D
