Thought i would give us a head start
its that time again to play our rivals...
how will we match up in a new year?
who should be in our starting 22?

Personally im nervous as hell when we play west coast but if we play like last week + a bit more i dont see why we cant have a good game against them!

very hard to change the present team as they are playing so well, the big worry is leo who was smashed by bradshaw.
we have to match up on lynch who is a big body and hanson who is playing crap, but you would think he would lift this week playing against us.
we need to shut down priddus in the middle, that might be a job for kirky, kerr should be rubbed out for a elbow to rhys palmer so he mightn't be a problem.
lets hope we bring our attacking game

The Swans actually haven't played WC with close to a full list of fit players for years. And we haven't beaten them since the QF in 2006 - a game where we also had a plethora of key injuries going into the game.

Despite this, they've rarely been far ahead of us. This time, we have no real excuses for performing below par - not even the old "slow start to the season" excuse.

My prediction: we're due! :thumbsu:

looks like Dean cox might be out with a foot injury. Kerr will also probably be suspended.

Looks like an easy win but we never handle the favourtism status very well. ANZ stadium has also not being a happy hunting ground in recent times

If we played like we did in the 1st half of the Grand Final 06 then even if Cox and Kerr weren't playing we will still probably lose. Equally if the swannies bring the sort of game that we know they can produce, it should be a comfortable win.

Watching the news this morning they mentioned 4 things to be looked at by the tribunal no mention of the Kerr incident although it did look nasty I saw worse on the weekend that has had no mention at all made of it.

I watched the majority of the Eagles/Freo game but i didn't see any Kerr incident. When did it happened?

Personally i want Kerr and Cox to play. LRT to take Cox on and kick his ass and McVeigh to lay like 10 massive tackles on Kerr which leads to him becoming man of the match. ;D

the kerr elbow was late in the game near the wing,a deliberate act but probably only a glancing blow, palmer was already bandaged around the head due to a crude effort by staker early in the game.this incident might also be viewed by the MRP.
i do remember kerr a few years ago at subi getting kirk with a elbow,he was charged and got off, kirk was covered in blood once again.he's a great player who would have won a brownlow only for a stupid act once or twice a year/
bloods to win by 21 points

With or without Cox and Kerr, you will still beat us by a fair margin next week.................I am quite impressed with Paul Roos - how quickly has he changed sydney around from last year. I always enjoy our epic struggles, but as I said earlier........the only struggle we will have tthis week will be trying to curb Hall, O'loughlin etc.
Syd by 6 goals

We shouldn't change our starting 22 right now. The team seems to be meshing, and there are little to no passengers to carry.

Seems like the Saints match was our slow start to the season. I can live with that :)

If we can get Everett in we need too. The one place on the ground were getting beat right now is in the ruck. As I think Jolly will be still ankle impacted for a few weeks yet.

It has not yet made an impact on the result but a team with a strong fast midfield may be able to feed off a ruck and Cox still may play so why your point is valid about no one out of a winning team I prefer to get our two ruckman in if we can.

Round 1 2007 anyone? They were pretty much undermanned side that time, though Judd and Kerr were there to play, they were missing Cox and Cousins at that time. So nervous for this Saturday. Its going to be another tight match for sure, although West Coast's position states otherwise.

I noticed the TAB had the odds for this game at Sydney 1.25 and West Coast 3.55. They're really only expecting one result from this match and i'm inclined to agree with them.

Sydney will start warm favourites and deservedly so, but all this talk in the media of the Eagles being in huge trouble is a bit overblown and typical of the sort of extrapolations and forecasts that we usually see early in a season (in the past similar things have been said about Sydney and they have proved to be premature). As Worsfold pointed out in his press conference, it was only a 15 minute burst in the 2nd quarter in which Freo kicked 5 goals (3 to Pavlich) that cost us the game. The margin was only 14 points and the game was up for grabs until deep into the 4th quarter. The week before against the Crows, we had 2 shocking quarters and other than that the game was very even. If we have a similar mental lapse against Sydney then we will get done, no doubt about it. But if the Eagles are switched on for the whole game then it will go down to the wire once again. No one gave us any chance in Round 1 last year without Cox, Cousins, Embley and Hansen. This week will be no different.

Will Cox play? Probably, after all he did play for a further 100 minutes after incurring the injury on Saturday so it can't be too bad. Minor ligament damage and nothing that a good shot of cortizone won't fix.

I think that talk of the Eagles' demise is definitely premature. However, they look very battle weary compared to the unit that played the first half of last year. But anyone who writes them off better watch out. Like Sydney, there's a fair bit of pride in that club.

Sydney hit the wall with injuries last year, but still made the finals and had some impressive performances over the journey. I believe WC will be in similar territory this year.

A team can't lose that many key players at once without having to make serious structural adjustments, and WC still have some shuffling to do. Plenty of respect for Worsfold's coaching and WC itself, but on paper we should be favourites so that's how I'm tipping.

anyone remember the last time they played at Olympic Park? Missing big names (Cousins, Judd? cant remember), Swans at full strength. Everitt's first game. Cox and Kerr destroyed us. Kerr went a bit rabid against the dockers, but he was the best midfielder on the park by a long way. I bet KJack gets 1st crack at him, but when he's on he's almost unstoppable as we all know too well.

I think we'll win but we'll have to play well. I hope Cox gets up for the game, but if I were them I wouldn't put him on the plane if there was the slightest doubt.

I'm pretty sure Judd was there but Cox wasn't. There were quite a few others missing aswell, possibly Glass and Embley? Everyone thought we'd win for sure given the amount of big name players that they had out but yeah, we didn't. That's why i'm not confident for Saturday night. It's definitely going to be close.

You guys are favourites and rightfully so.

Hopefully we can get over the line once again in another nail-biter but i dont like our chances but ill maintain the faith in my boys!

Expect McNamara, Masten and Kennedy to be the definate inclusions.

Should be a good game....Cant wait.
