I'd be shattered, no two ways about it. In all honesty we should bury them, but any win would satisfy me this weekend. The odds are heavily stacked in our favour, but that worries me a bit.
yeah, that's exactly how i feel
we should win, and that's when i start to worry
apart from anything else, we're on the brink of a 3-1 start then a real challenge at geelong on saturday week
and this from a team being written off everywhere but here ... yes, okay, even here
sighhhh ... by me, among others

i see the weagles have named cox
i'd still be very surprised if he plays, he would HAVE to be affected with an injured foot, and i can't imagine they'd risk him on the big ground

Having watched the Eagles last couple we have to make sure we keep the heat on. its been pointed out their midfield is no longer so strong with Judd and Cousins having left and will have taken a further blow with gutsy youngster Priddis out. Kerr aside the other guys are not really responding to the pressure of close play as well as they did in 06. Their midfield kicking skills are down under pressure and this West Coast have taken to using a hand ball game, which could play into the hands of our tight hard and media driven unpopular style of play. We must ensure we keep it tight and maximise our efficiency in the forward line to hurt them on the scoreboard.

A danger for us though is the Eagles ruck work, it appears Cox may well play and seaby is no hack as back up regardless when it comes to hit outs. The Eagles could use this to effectively open the play up and utilise Lynch and young McKinley at speed.

X Factor Player for the games

Sydney: Adam Goodes, if he can take the game by the scruff and dominate make the centre of the ground his than the swans have a big key to winning the match.

West Coast. Quinton Lynch. If the Big guy can use his height advantage over the smaller swans defense and take a bag of contested marks the West Coast have a target they can go to regardless of pressure.

One reason I believe we match up well against West Coast is our undersized backline isn't exposed against their undersized forward line with the exception of Lynch who as refered to above could be the X-Factor. I think this game like most will be won and lost in the Midfield and with Goodes not having his usual match up on Judd it could free him up to be attacking and perhaps push forward and create another goal scoring option.

Hall also needs to take advantage of Glasses poor early season form he hasn't had a great record against him int eh past but this week is the ideal time to turn it around.

It should be a great game and I'm nervous because of the heavy favouritism but I still believe we should win by around four goals.

I think the X factor for us is the youngsters who have played 6 games between them (McNamara, Masten, Spangher, McKinley, Scott Selwood). McNamara and Masten in particular are very quick and genuine future stars and if the more experienced midfielders such as Kerr, Braun, Stenglein, Waters, Cox etc can bring them into the game then anything could happen. Scoring has been our biggest problem but at least Woosha is trying something new with the inclusion of Armstong and McKinley. Staker needs to shut down Goodes and Lynch and/or Hansen really need to stand up for us to have any chance. I cannot see us winning the game but I think we will be more competitive than what the bookies odds suggest. Swans by 3-4 goals.

good luck sydney. we will beat you tho
Easily mate. You should have written 'easily'. People are up on all of this hoo haa and pulling the club down with accusations, but the fact of the matter has, does, and will always stand. That this club will not lie down. We have Woosha instilling a sense of vigour in our charges. They are young, smart and Suma is good. WC is the crux of the competition and Demetriou knows this fact of the matter. Factual events cannot be compromised.

This is a very, very important game in my eyes. It will show if we're really switched on a hungry to get the flag again.

By all rights we should beat West Coast. Even with their best 22, they're not as good as they were in previous years (although still very good). However, they're completely ravaged by injuries. All the players that are out, plus Cox and Glass carrying injuries. We should win. I just hope that the boys don't take it easy because of this.

If we win, we'll be 3-1, and I'll give us a great shot against the Cats next week. Although even if we lose that it'll be 3-2. A loss tomorrow and that's 2-2, and then a possible loss to Geelong to make it 2-3. We've got to win.

It will be great seeing your youngsters run around against the likes of Bird, Barlow, Moore & Jack. These are the players that will see the rivalry of two great interstate clubs continue.

A little bit of confidence boy, it's all we need. It won't grow on trees, but it will grow. I've been involved with football for the better part of 50years since arriving here by boat during the post war boom, as a young buck with a point to prove. I worked for ten years shovelling dung for the council and playing alongside some of Vale's finest. This was a long long time ago and I think if I have learnt one thing since stepping foot on this continent, is that confidence will win games and supporters hearts.

If we're going to lose Kennelly for a week, I'd much rather it was this week than next. Not taking the Eagles lightly, but an understrength Eagles at home is a very different proposition to a full strength Geelong at Kardinia.

And much rather they rested him that he tore it and landed out of action for a month.

I hope its not too serious, but I do agree with Liz. I rather have him rested now than worsening his hammy for next week's clash against Geelong!!!

Brennan in for Kennelly? (if thats the case)

Grundy stress fractures in his foot.

I would think Brennan in for Grundy (tall for a tall - yes I know Brennan's only 185 but he plays tall), and Mathews for Kennelly.
Any mention how he did it? How unfortunate he was looking more settled too.
Wonder if Davis comes in and Bevan to the back line, for Kennelly..
Agree on Brennan..

Is Grundy a forward? It could be Davis for Grundy and Brennan for Kennelly
Grundy's been playing mostly back although he did head up forward for a few moments last week.

It cannot be Davis because he was not in the 3 emergencies named. The club would be fined for doing so. (a la Paul Kelly in his infamous clandestine return against Freo @ Subi)

I am actually quite excited about this match as a West Coast Supporter yes we are decimated by injuries but its going to be great to see the new breed of eagles in action all at once. With SPANGGGGGHHHHHHHHEEEERRR coming in expect Hunter to spend some time up forward especially if Hanen's poor form this season continues.

I am not expecting to win but ive learnt not to give up on the boys especially when they play against your mob as for some reason we always seem to lift regardless of who we have in our side. IMO itll either be a close win to my boys by under a goal or a big 8-10 goal win to your mob. If the Eagles can get away to a good start then we are in with a chance...if the Swans get the jump on us early i can see us struggling as our heads will drop.

Good luck boys and may the best team (Eagles :)) win!
