Biggest away test for the ladder leading 10-1 West Coast. Swans will be gunning for a much needed big scalp at the SCG after being mediocre losing three there already.

Swans beat WCE in a similar spot in 2005 when the eagles were flying high and top of the ladder. I think they had only lost one at that point too.

Swans will win I reckon.

I don’t think we will win. Coming off the bye against a very good side and away, on an unique shaped ground. I will be bloody excited if we did win though. Can’t let Buddy run riot like round one though.

Acknowledge him more. It'll make him more satisfied, which will result in less attention whoring / s**t threads.

Jeez, i bet you'd be filthy with that stat if you didn't constantly trash us in WA...
There's been a handful of games (including 1 final) played out at Homebush over the last 15 years or so.

We did get 5 home games in a row v Sydney (for a total of 1 win).

After beating them midway through 2007 we led the head to head between the two clubs 19-18 but Swans have surged ahead 28-21.

Since beating them at the SCG in 1999 we've played 10 games in Sydney for 1 win (Round 1 2007 at Homebush). We've also lost 1 other game at the SCG in 1999 against the Kangaroos.

Not a great record for us at all.

Wow that's interesting. Do you know why we played North at the SCG?

I was actually at that North-Eagles game at the SCG.

North played 7 home games at the SCG in 1999 and 2000 (2 of which were against Sydney, the others us, Geelong, St Kilda, Port Adelaide and Richmond). They also played home games at the SCG against Sydney in 2001 and 2002. They also played a home game against the Hawks at the SCG in 1979.

The games in the 1999-2000 period I vaguely remember there was an attempt to re-brand them as "Australia's team" and simply call them the Kangaroos. I guess the theory being they could play home games anywhere and try and pick up a following around the country. This was then shifted to play a number of home games at Manuka Oval in Canberra. A North Melbourne supporter would probably remember the reasons better.

Oh god the first thing I thought of upon seeing this title was West Coast 2005 just like the OP. Don’t tell me I’m going insane :(

North experimented with playing home games at the SCG to try and capture part of the NSW market but it didn't take off to say the least.
Crowd figures for home games v interstate teams at the SCG was
West Coast: 15k
St Kilda: 11k
Geelong: 10k
Port: 7k
Richmond: 9k

I do remember the game against West Coast being exceptionally flat atmosphere but being able to get right up to the fence without any problems so that was a bonus for a young teenager.
