Love how you think 400k is fair for sylvia but in the other thread say scully should be earning more if he stays...

Sylvia>Scully

Glad Col's signed on anyway, jus need martin signed up an thats everyone i care about

If we have any players worth around the 500K mark i think Sylvia is one of them atm, would have been nice to get him on a 3-4 year deal and front load it, but we know how they have work out lately...

Thank You Sylvia! <3

a little late I know, especially considering I did read about it early this morning but... better late then never! xD

If we can retain Scully next, I'm happier! But for now, happy will do! =)

Great news, glad Col is on board for a couple more years at least. He may still be lacking consistency, but he is a very good player and important to our side.

One player we defintiely couldn't afford to lose (for all his good points and bad points) although some of the regular "experts" on 'land' had conveniently rationalised how he was not required during that brief period of uncertainty.

This is good news. Would love to see him get more time on the ball in 2012

Not sure what you guys are getting at, im no fan of the 'source' rumours, but i dont think anyone in the media actually said he was gonna leave? They said Sydney and GWS were interested, and Col might have been considering it?

Hell this fits in with my conspiracy theory, Scully took GWS's offer yesterday, GWS retracts there offer to Col, so Col reluctantly accepts Melbournes offer.. now for my tin foil theory Morton will re sign this week as well.. NOT GIVING YOU MY SOURCE!!

Give me Sylvia over Scully every day of the week. Sylvia is more explosive, better overhead, more aggressive and uses the ball better.

Scully is going to be elite for sure, he has the attitude to make it no matter what, and he is not going to go off the rails, being a non-drinker and all. But there are massive question marks over his longevity. If he has a chronic injury at his age, how is he going to get the k's in his legs that he needs to be an elite midfielder. His running ability is his biggest strength, take that away and he is not the same player. I hope he goes and we get two decent picks for him. Let's use at least one of them on a very quick small forward who loves to tackle. Or we could just draft another skinny KPP player who will take 4 years to develop........

Your ****ing around right...

Hes not in the leadership group

I'd love to see him as Captain as well. I know he is not in the leadership group but I think giving him this responsibility would be fantastic for him. He is our most talented player and making him captain would undoubtedly fast track the 'maturing' process.

Trengove will Captain our club for many years, no doubt, but may be a little young just at the minute. I think Col would be a brilliant option next year, if he runs with it, leave him in place, if he struggles appoint Trengove in 2013.

Leadership group for mine:
Sylvia, Trengove, Watts, Jones, McKenzie, Moloney, Frawley

To those suggesting Sylvia as captain... Think about why you don't want Green as captain, then think about what Sylvia brings to the table.

Moloney for mine, or just keep Green in there for another year and give it to Trengove once Green goes.

yeah no doubt, but he might respond well to the added responsibility. put him in the leadership group at least. he can't possibility do any worse than green.

Certainly good news that Col's been re-signed.

And a big Amen to GT's post just before. There's no way Sylvia could be a worse captaincy option than Brad Green is at this point.

If I've said it once, I've said it umpty-million times now. Brad Green has no business remaining captain of our club, and if I had my way, he would not be allowed to continue in this role for as much as one more day.

But in saying that, I agree with Logger that Beamer is definitely the strongest candidate to take over the captaincy...
