The thing that makes me chuckle...

*Essendon are saying its not performance enhancing. Then why would they be injecting it into the players stomachs - just for a bit of fun? To pass the time? To see how the boys cope with some nausea? Ridiculous.

Wondering if they'll rival Dennis Mitchell's excuse back in the 90s?

http://davidhaviland.com/?p=269

Mitchell appealed to the US Track and Field doping panel, claiming that the only reason his testosterone levels were high was because, the night before the test, he had drunk six bottles of beer, and had sex four times. He told the panel, ‘It was Macca18’s birthday; she deserved a treat.’

Do you believe everything you read? I firmly believe it was a rogue element within the club namely Dank and another. If you employ a biochemist to do a job and he says take this, would you question it?
So you're saying that Hird was part of this so called "rogue element"?

Watson is in denial.

Admits he has taken what is proven to be a banned drug, then says he "has done nothing wrong" so "has nothing to worry about"

Err, um, right

How about rephrase to "Yes, it has come to light that I have done the wrong thing, but it was not intentional and was based on poor advice from the sports science specialist at the club"

Either way I hope the book is thrown at Essendon and its players. The more they try to deny liability and take no responsibility the more I hope they cop it.

I sat through the first 20 mins of the Couch to listen to our whacks and then saw who was coming up and watched Mad Men.

Prolly should have hung around...
Pretty sure that if you left it on OTC, you'd have seen the same thing. Particularly the deluded flog in the *Essendon polo shirt.

Pretty good thanks, as far as I know there is still no penalty handed down yet. So how are you numnuts? The Jobe admission is nothing new as Essendon admitted using that drug ages ago. The same time they also said they had a good reason to believe it was legitimate use at the time.
I also don't think anyone can blame jobe for taking it when he was told by medical staff of a professional organisation that it was legal. That goes for all the players.
lets see how that defence works out for you

Not at all happy. You take a breather from the keyboard for a day and a bit and what happens?

*jobe spills the beans and you're not around to enjoy the moment!!!

What's with the lad Foxx, by the way. Does he think his many attempts at denial here in this thread will convince the authorities to exonerate all at *Essendon???

We don't have a say in case you haven't worked it out Foxx. Go make your feeble submissions to Awada/Asada/AFL and see if they are interested.

If we did have a say the *Essendon Football Club would be rubbed out for this year, banned from competing in the draft for the next 5 years, guilty players suspended and just for the crime of trying to lie and deceive its way out of this all premierships stripped going back the last 100 or so years ago.

(I just hope that's not letting them off lightly by the way.)

Seriously, Essendon has hits head so far up its own ass that a shoulder blade is starting to disapear.
The fact the supporters and club think what they did was legal until now is a massive joke.

Who cares if you thought it was legal, the results (muscle gain) were in no matter or form just. Dumbest coach, dumbest footy manager and dumbest doctor to allow this to happen. If Essendon was to have any ounce of credibility after this they should have already made the right changes. But legends are legends hey.

NORTH! 2016,2017,2018.
There are plenty of legal drugs with fancier names than that
Guess that's okay then huh? Fluoxoperidonacaine or AOD-9604? "Guess I'm going to have to go with AOD-9604 because it sounds less fancy!"

It's getting a bit beyond the joke now to be honest. As if you wouldn't do a quick google search of the product in question either before you took it or immediately after. Curiosity would get the better of you

What cracks me up is this concept that “if it is not on the banned list, then it is OK”

Do *Essendon understand at all what the anti-doping principle is? It is the concept that sports people do not get a competitive advantage by using performance enhancing drugs (I’ve had a gutful of the term “peptides”). Shonky sports biochemists are deliberately creating new or re-packaging old drugs to circumvent anti doping laws. The fact that the legislation has not caught up with every drug that is out there, does not mean that Essendon were not shitting on the anti-doping principle by using drugs "not on the banned list". FACT: *Essendon were using untried & potentially dangerous performance enhancing drugs to get an unfair advantage over other AFL teams. The truth is out now & I’ve had enough – get this shit attitude out of our sport.

For the good of the competition, *Essendon need to be made an example of. Hammer them!

It just seems to me that Dank, Hird and *Essendon were about 3 - 4 months behind WADA rule changes when they entered into this little game of Russian roulette. They thought they were the smartest people in the room. They were wrong. They thought they were circumventing the rules, and pushing the limits. They didn't realise the loopholes had been closed. This is not a case of bad timing or innocent victims. They tried to beat the system and weasel around the ban on performance enhancing supplements. They tried to cheat legally and they got caught by new rules. Dank was not a rogue element within the club. He was operating according to the clearly stated club objectives - whatever it takes.

And now they are trying to dance their way around this legally, arguing around the status of AOD and it's use in food and topical creams etc. The club needs to man up and accept that in dancing too close to the edge that they stepped over. They can deflect and avoid the little blows the media and public throw at them all they want, but the war hammer of WADA/ASADA is coming for them and is going to smash them into little pieces. Accept the wrong doing, acknowledge the culture that got them to this point in the first place and change it. No protecting those who were the brains behind the operation. They should be looking out for those most placed at risk, the players, and advising them to fess up in the hope that they cop the minimum.
