I understand the appointment of Bard. He will help (they hope) to stabilise the club.

But bloody hell, theres some revisionist history going on in the media. They always used to bag his win rate as not enough, game day tactics weren't quite good enough and was potted continually by the media for stubborn selection.

But now all of a sudden he has a great W/L etc. Hilarious.

I for one am looking forward to the Bupa mock ad again.

Coaches who have coached more games than Brad Scott (211) with worse W/L record (50.24)
377 - Rodney Eade - Sydney, WB, GC (1996-2017) 49.73
223 - Neale Daniher - Melbourne (1998-2007) 48.65
247 - Terry Wallace - WB, Richmond (1996-2009) 47.77
344 - Robert Walls - Fitz, Carl, BB, Rich (1981-1997) 46.97
219 - Wally Carter - North Melbourne (1940-1962) 44.98
228 - Ted Whitten - Footscray (1957-1971) 39.91
258 - Bill Stephen - Fitzroy, Essendon (1955-1980) 32.95

Eade, Carter, Daniher and Whitten got to a Grand Final. Walls won one.

Pretty slim list.

Wow Bill Stephen - 25 years, no grand finals, won less than a third of games.

He must have had photos of literally everyone.

Or lithograph sketches.

Coached Fitzroy for three years (1955-57) as a captain/coach. Got the flick for 1958 for Len Smith - one of only 6 years Fitzroy made finals form 1925 to 1978. Got the job back from 1965-70 - never won more than 50% of games, never out of bottom 4, last in 1966. In 1971 they won more than lost under Graham Donaldson. Found himself at * for 1976-77. Had their two worst years between 1971-1997. Back at Fitzroy in 1979-80. Won a final in 1979 (against *) but wooden spoon in 1980. Fitzroy played finals in 1981 and finals 4 of the next 6 years after he left.

A truly incredible career. Appointed coach four times. Three times at the same club. 13 years as coach across 26 years - only one with a positive W/L record. Never played in a final. Success seemed to follow his departure from wherever he went. Assistant coach at NMFC under Barassi.

Died two years ago. There's almost a worthy documentary about him.

What’s with all the Brad Scott hate? He got us to two prelimims, and if it wasn’t for some horrendous injuries in that season (can’t remember which but the one we won all those opening games), who knows what else.

Essendon could do far worse than him

Thanks Brad.

(I'm joking it's a reasonable argument I'm just trolling)

Sure they could do far worse. But could do a whole lot better, personally i reckon truck was better, they are giving him a 4 year contract, iam sure truck would have improved them over the next 2 years if they have him the same term.
