9.20.05 - SYSTEM OF A DOWN SET TO RELEASE HYPNOTIZE NOVEMBER 22 ON CD AND DUALDISC

Six months after System of a Down’s Mezmerize debuted at number one on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart, the uncompromising and outspoken quartet returns with Hypnotize, part two of a promised two-album set. American Recordings/Columbia will release two versions of Hypnotize, the band’s fifth studio album, on November 22nd.

Both the CD and DualDisc versions feature 12 new songs as well as artwork by Vartan Malakian, father of SOAD’s guitarist/singer Daron. The packaging for Hypnotize is specially designed to physically join Mezmerize and Hypnotize together, forming one unified product with continuous artwork. Additionally, the DualDisc edition will contain a film by Gariné Torossian which explores the making of both records.

More importantly, the albums interlock musically. The final track on Hypnotize, “Soldier Side” completes “Soldier Side Intro,” which appears as the opening track on Mezmerize.

HYPNOTIZE
Track Listing
1.“Attack”
2.“Dreaming”
3.“Kill Rock ‘n Roll”
4.“Hypnotize”
5.“Stealing Society”
6.“Tentative”
7.“U-Fig”
8.“Holy Mountains”
9.“Vicinity of Obscenity”
10.“She’s Like Heroin”
11.“Lonely Day”
12.“Soldier Side”

FYI

BTW can't wait for the second installment, it's gonna be a cracker.

I read a review on the 2nd installment in a metal mag and it pretty much picks up where the first disc left off. Expect the album to be as fast, dynamic, psychodelic and as creative as ever!! Bring it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heard it at a listening party, from first impressions it seems alot heavier than the mezmerize disk, also contains an instrumental.

Bring it on, hope it's a bit heavier than Mezmerize, which was awesome in it's own right, but still hoping for a bit heavier.

I'm excited! :thumbsu:

Do you think SOAD will have a huge influence on the JJJ Hottest 100 this year? By my reckoning they'll have at least 4 songs from Mezmirize (BOYB, Cigarro, Question, Radio/Video) and by the sounds of things there's a few more great songs to come. Bring it on!

Big Deal People there last album was not very good. A band who now believes there own hype. There first two albums are corkers, there b-sides album was ok but expected for a b-side album. But the last one...I shake my head.

I can understand why it sold well, and why more people would like it. No offense to anyone because I strongly believe people should have their own taste in music. But the Mezmerize album was just an over formulated pile of poo. But I suppose when you want to appeal to the masses these things happen.

I hope the guitarist does less singing on the new one that would be a start in the right direction.
