Re: Re: system of a down

I'd say they are the best band in their genre without a doubt. The only other 'nu-metal' band that comes close to them is Sevendust.

Their first self titled album is excellent. Heavy, different, and great lyrics.

Its only my opinion but Toxicity is the best metal cd ive heard. From start to finish, no other metal cd ive ever listened to comes close.

Steal This Album is ok...nothing more really. All it is, is a bunch of left over tracks and you can tell why most of the tracks didnt make it onto the albums. Theres only 2 or 3 songs on it that i enjoy.

Yeah, what you said. (apart from Sevendust - I can't f*cking stand them......oh, and I also thought Steal This Album was pure sh|t, although I didn't expect anything more to be honest)

The more I listen to the first album though, the more I prefer it over Toxicity.

Although Andy Wallace did an awesome job on Toxicity, I'd like to see SOAD change producers for their next album before they become just another brand name with Andy Wallace sucking all the life out of their music.

WE WILL FIGHT THE HEATHENS!

WE WILL FIGHT THE HEATHENS!

Damn that songs rocks.

And it's also got a rawness and fatness that nothing on Toxicity has got.

Either way, I'll be buying their next album......Andy wallace or not.

Straight up, Systems is da BOMB!! Macca, you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned that from start to finish, Toxicity is simply a masterpiece. All three albums are just awesome, and I look forward to their next.

Syrat (i think that's how it's spelled) is System's frontman's side project. They're pretty good too

Serart (Serj Tankian and Arto Tunc Boyaciyan)

World Music on cocaine is how id describe it...which is cool cos i quite like World Music. Very African.

I agree with you in some ways.

Id say that the best 4 songs on Self Titled are better than the best 4 songs on Toxicity but the 4 worst songs on Toxicity hands down beats the worst 4 songs on S/T. Also the flow thru Toxicity from start to finish is like nothing ive heard on a metal album before. Whereas most albums have a couple of filler tracks that are fairly average and you dont mind skipping, each individual song on Toxicity is ****in good in its own right.

And yes 'War' does rock! Wont forget them playing that at the BDO.

Agree with you, SOAD are definitely one of the best nu-metal bands around these days. Sevendust are rather underrated, IMO.

But best metal CD? Not a chance. Leave that to the likes of Dark Tranquillity's "The Gallery", or Emperor's "Prometheus", or Novembre's "Novembrine Waltz", or a handful of others I can't quite think of at the moment.

Well I love world music and coccaine so I guess I'll like it even more. ;)

I like this band. And from a true music lover like me, that is a huge wrap for all your "new" bands

I like "Toxicity" quite alot. I don't see these guys as Nu-Metal though. Just as an honest-to-goodness, ballsy rock band who wear their art, politics and influences very proudly on their sleeves (unlike other acts going around at the moment).

FWIW, I just picked up the latest Defleshed CD "Royal straight flesh". You won't find this at Big W or Sanity. Had it ordered specially. Damn brutal gear. These guys are churning out some intense material. I like!!!
