Anyone else see good value in SYT to win the Victorian horse of the year at $2.55?

Both he and Black Caviar won 4 G1's each, while BC won two G2's to his one.

One of BC's G1 wins was the William Reid which i dont really rate that high. Her other three (Patinack, Lightning and Newmarket) were all top G1's though.

SYT winning the Cox Plate though has to give him a slight edge though as its the best WFA race in the Southern Hemisphere. You would think he would have to gain a few points for placing in the MC too.

On record, you'd have to assume SYT would be a huge chance, but on the politics of it, with SYT switching to a UK base and Black Caviar being the undefeated drawcard for Victorian racing for the next spring... I'd be shocked if she lost.

Just held on to win tonight, not his best run but still a win.

Where next? The Arc? Perhaps back here for the Cox Plate?
It's very unlikely that he'll come back for the Cox Plate. The Arc looks the more likely option.

LOL @ European racing. Once again SYT's stablemate nearly screwed him over as the pacemaker. Farcical stuff!

Thought the runner-up was going to run last approaching the bend. Good solid hit out for SYT, and another G1/$650K in the kitty.

Trainer Adian O'Brien has stated that So You Think's next race will likely take place in either the Group 1 Queen Elizabeth II Stakes or Group 1 QIPCO Champion Stakes. Both events are held at Ascot on QIPCO British Champions Day, which takes place Saturday the 15th of October.

The QE II Stakes is a Group 1 straight course event open to thoroughbreds aged three years or older, that covers a distance of 1 mile (1609 metres), and offers prize money totaling £1,000,000 ($1,545,000 AUD). While the Group 1 QIPCO Champion Stakes is a 10-furlong (2000m) event that offers prize money totaling £1,300,000 ($2,008,800 AUD). Star runner and European legend Frankel is also likely to target the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes, in what would be a race for the ages if So You Think’s trainer chooses to start him.

But he's a narrow favourite for the Arc on October 2, so who knows?

Woke up last night and checked to see if SYT had won, not realising that the race was yet to be run. When I saw the jump was 15 mins away, I plonked a bit on him. :)

Let's hope he trounces Frankel. :thumbsu:

sucks to see syt hardly challenged (yes i saw todays race) but field wise you may have 1-2 challenges and the rest are there to simply make up the numbers

would love to see it in some good fields... but thats modern racing

Going to be a flat year for distance racing, Lost Viewed last year & with Zipping/Shocking gone and So You Think not coming back we are pretty much left with Whobegotyou vs Heart of Dreams with nothing else of note still around.

Going to be a year for the internationals unless a 3 year old comes out of no where.

Faces his moment of truth tomorrow morning, 1:15am AEST. A win cements him as one of the greats at international level; a loss, and he's just another good horse.

Personally think he is up against it in this very strong edition of the Arc. The wide barrier leaves him little choice but to press forward early over the 2400. Trainer was opposed to running him in this but was overruled by Coolmore, no doubt with an eye to pushing his stud value into the stratosphere. Good luck, champ.

Trainer is a ********, however.

Go So You Think!

WTF happened there, 2nd last coming into the home straight, what ****ing stupid tactics.

Never had a chance, the horse actually ran bloody well, but it had no chance the way it was ridden.

Blame O'Brien, now on to the USA where he'll fail again.

HORRIBLE RIDE!

Had it out the back 2nd last 20 lengths off the lead and was never a chance. Very annoyed at the pathetic tactics that have been used with him in Europe :(

Can only think they figured it'd be suicide to go forward from an outside gate.

Top run, no doubt he stayed the trip. They just went too quick for him to give them such a start. Think it was a record time for the Arc.

Absolute slaughter ride, they could have called off their pace setter and allowed him to move around the pack mid race.

These stupid Europeans and their racing tactics are just plain ignorant.

The fact Shareta raced on the pace and held on for second at ~70/1 makes you wonder what might have been. Unfortunately for SYT, the field never broke up sufficiently for him to ease into the race and he was asked to run impossible sectionals at the finish, which is obviously not his customary style of racing. Anyway I don't think he lost many admirers with the run.

Was really a super run from where he was situated and the fact that that's not his go being the chaser. Never gave SYT a chance to show his fighting qualities. It easy to look back now and say he should have gone forward but from that barrier it would have been a hard task to get across without expending too much gas. Still it probably would have been better to try that rather than giving him no hope chasing, especially considering he seemed to have jump well.

Seems that race was set for St Nicholas Abbey. O'Brien/Coolmore have really handicapped SYT. Even in the races he's won there has been mistakes and wrongdoings, bit of a farce.
