A few big names missing there. Will be interesting to see how they go. Can anyone else nominate later in the week?

Mitch Johnson 300k????

Crazy shit. Who in their right mind would pay that for him, and does he seriously think he is worth more than any other Aus player?

How much would Brad Hogg be loving this? Come out of retirement, go and play a few games in India----$100,000. Good luck to the little postie!

And MacGill is asking for $100,000 as well!

Hopefully Delhi pick up Hoggy; we don't have a single quality spinner on our books.

No Coulter-Nile? I reckon he suits the format perfectly.

It's a free market (he's the seller) - he might just think to himself, I can't be bothered going across there for less.

I daresay he's pretty high up the list of the contract money earners - so probably netting $2m a year anyway - why would he bother playing for $75k if he's already on that sort of coin.

Mitchell Johnson might also attract a decent price because he's not as likely to be selected at the highest level (outside of T20 perhaps) going forward.

MacGill at 100k? Johnson at 300k?

If the IPL had pants, I can see they would need a fire extinguisher right now.

Seriously, I would think of picking up Cooper, Cutting and yes, even Hogg right now. I support Rajasthan, and seeing Warnie's 'retired' now, someone like Hogg would help us out in the spin department.

Let's start up some predictions. Johnson won't be bought, McCullum will be bought for more than 2 mil and the only Aussies that will be newly picked up at the end of the auction will be Hogg, Cutting, Doherty and Voges.

I dare say he won't be on that sort of coin when the contracts next come up.

Although what they are paying Steve Smith he might hit the jackpot again also.

Johnson's a steal at that price (as long as he's fit). Regardless of what you think of him in Test cricket, he's a good short form player and has a very good record on the sub continent. All rounder's generally get good money in the IPL and Johnson, on his day, is one of the best. I'd be inclined to bat him up the top of the order and tell him to go out and swing the bat - if he connects, he'd smash it out of those small Indian grounds.

I agree about Johnson, way too expensive for a bloke who will go at 8+ an over every match.

There will be others picked up too - Stephen O'Keefe, Steve Smith, Alister McDermott, Shane Harwood & Peter Siddle will all definitely get picked up as well.

Johnson will go for 8+ an over every match? Despite the fact his econ rate in international cricket is only 7.14 and his domestic T20 rate only 7.05?
He was going badly in test cricket in the past year or so, but apparently was ranked second in the world or something for his bowling in ODI's as of a couple of months ago (he's now slipped to 6, as he hasn't been playing). And he's also ranked 11 in the world in the ICC rankings for T20 bowling, after being as high as 4 in the past 18 months (compared to 18th currently for tests), so I think those picking the teams will be aware that he performs best in the shorter formats.
Add in his ability to clear the fence with the bat and I'd suggest he will be likely to be picked up by someone. He could easily go for a lot more than $300K, especially, as someone else said, as he's not likely to be playing much for Australia anymore, which means he's likely to be available for a lot of IPL games. Those with all-round ability go for a lot of green.

Nobody will pick O'Keefe up...nobody will pick Harwood up...nobody will pick up Siddle for that price. Smith and McDermott are maybe's.

A vast majority of those in the OP will be overlooked without even a second thought.
