I wouldn't mind him replacing Bailey. Bailey was a strange choice for mine, he doesn't really look like a Twenty20 player.

But CA would look like douchebags.

It would look bad for them to bring him back for the expense of Bailey (which in my opinion is the best move).

Well it looked terrible dropping the captain, who deserved to be dropped, and then fumbling around and making Bailey, who wasn't much better than White in the bigbash, the captain, in the process overlooking the vice captain, Shane Watson. So they probably don't mind if it looks terrible. And if you drop Bailey you don't have to make White captain. White hasn't scored a 50 as captain since...........

77 Chargers v Super Kings Chennai 4 May 2012 Twenty20
74 Chargers v Warriors Cuttack 1 May 2012 Twenty20
0 Chargers v Mum Indians Mumbai 29 Apr 2012 Twenty20
78 Chargers v Warriors Pune 26 Apr 2012 Twenty20

Guess which game White was captain in?

If you drop Bailey for White, you can make Watson captain. Happy days.

Steve Smith captained the winning Big Bash team.

He's captaining Pune tonight for Ganguly who dropped/rested himself.

You know it's the smart move. ;)

As much as I am pro-Smith for the T20I team, the prospect of him being captain still makes me feel a bit sick :p.

Perhaps someone whose spot is a bit more secure.

White has to be in the T20 WC now, and probably the starting 11. Just as I feared Bailey's appointment could well stop us from playing our best 7.

Yeah definitely has to now. Another half century (67*) last night, isn't it incredible how easy he's making it look now when only two months ago watching him bat was torture.

Thats a very strong batting lineup, but doesnt look like they will pick it

Damn Deccans bowling attack is weak, their batsmen get them defendable totals but they dont have the bowlers to defend anything

Agree that Bailey's appointment was crazy, but nobody could have justified keeping White in the team at that stage. Didn't look like hitting it off the square for a good 6 months.
He was just out of form at one-day level. What was more worrying was the constant clamour of folks wanting to bring him to the test team when we were getting pounded in the Ashes!

And you thought the bring back Warne campaign was crazy enough.

Finch and Birt also worthy of a T20 spot. Finch averages 104 in 3 T20I's, was good in the BBL, so would surely be at least a backup bat.

White? No, unless you mean limited overs in general. Didn't he average about 2.6 in the BBL at one stage?

He didn't make a 50 at any professional level of cricket for about 15 months. Australian, Victoria, Melbourne Stars, IPL. Nothing past 43 or something for 14 or 15 months. It was one of the biggest form slumps ever. Not to mention one of the most absurd, given his form before it was mostly excellent, and his form now is excellent.

Actually it wasn't absurd at all. Australian T20 captaincy curse.

Anyway, he deserved to lost his spot. I don't think Bailey deserved to replace him, I don't think many people did. At the very least they should have left their options open and mentioned Bailey would be captain due to the vice captain Shane Watson being unfit.

On the whole, you can't really argue with the results so far, but this selection panel are doing some things which if repeated during a form slump.......

I haven't watched a lot of games, in fact none live so far, but there is a general consensus among friends that this is the best IPL season yet, I can see why though, a lot of games have gone down to the wire this year.

FFS, GTFO Chennai. Pull off so many arsey wins it's not funny.

Nice one Bhatia, full toss off the last ball...nuffy.
Always trust Dhoni. For some reason he just inspires confidence. I honestly feel his leadership and calm is the reason why Chennai have won 2 titles + Champions League (as well as India's World Twenty20 + ODI World Cup). If Chennai somehow make the top 4 they will probably end up winning this IPL. I would back them under pressure. Delhi and Mumbai crumble under pressure.

Yeah, I don't want them in the Top 4 because if they make it chances are they will win.

Come on, Delhi! This has to be our year.
