Just read this story on the supertab website and couldn't let them get away with it.

RACING VISION AND THE SPLIT PICTURE
TAB customers and Foxtel digital Pay TV subscribers are complaining
about having to watch a split racing service in TAB outlets and being
forced to continually switch between Pay TV channels to view Victorian
and Sydney races. Other Pay TV subscribers cannot even see these
races because TVN only offers its subscription channel on the Foxtel
digital service.

First of all, TVN did sign with the other PayTV networks, but it took high court action by SKY CHANNEL to put a stop to it, if it wasn't for tabcrap people everywhere could be watching every race in this nation, but you put a stop to that, not TVN

The split picture inconveniences both TAB customers and thoroughbred
racing fans alike and Sky Channel is very concerned about the impact on
wagering turnover and the adverse economic impact that this is having on
the Australian racing industry.

No it doesn't, It inconveniences the mug punters who SKY Channel feed off, If Sky wasn't owned by the TABS would there really be Midweek racing from HK & SA?

I like most punters who want to profit from this game love TVN, it offers full us more up to date info than Sky ever did, plus we don't have to sit there and watch 8 dog races & 4 trot races between races.

To enable TAB customers and Pay TV subscribers to immediately watch
Victorian and Sydney racing on all Pay TV services, Sky Channel has
offered TVN free access to the Sky Racing Channel, plus brand exposure
and a significant contribution to TVN’s production costs. This has been
proposed on an interim basis and without cost to either TVN or Pay TV
subscribers, while legal matters are resolved.
Regrettably TVN continues to reject this offer, as “the proposal does not
meet TVN’s commercial objectives”.

The split racing picture, which has been created by TVN, also conflicts
with audio programs in TAB outlets and confuses and annoys TAB
customers.

Most TABs use the radio for audio and they still cover all races so what are they on about?

The TAB was always concerned that the split vision would be
detrimental to wagering turnover and the racing industry. Sky Channel
sought the right to continue telecasting Victorian and Sydney racing but
TVN chose instead to exclusively telecast these races on its own service.
The TAB has installed the TVN service in all of its agencies and also
allowed TVN to include tote information in the TVN telecast. However, the
split picture continues to be damaging to the industry and this cannot be
rectified without the cooperation of TVN and its shareholders.
Sky Channel will continue to work hard to find a solution to the split
picture problem, which we can only hope will be resolved for the benefit of
punters.

You didn't install the TVN service as a favour, you did it because if you didn't people will find other ways to bet, ie; Betfair & bookmakers. Stop lying to us, we are informed and I'm getting sick of it. TVN is here to stay, get used to it.

Agree 100% with your post. TABCorp's stance on TVN is starting to irritate me, as are a few journalists who are continuing to slag off about the channel. Probably jealous they didn't get a job with TVN.

It is all very simple, all Tabcorp have to do is let TVN on all pay-TV networks.

I have only had TVN for two weeks and it is alright, beats Sky Channel's pathetic efforts of the past.

A prime example of how bad Sky Channel is last night - Miracle mile night. A pre race interview with one of the drivers had to pause three times for Dog and Trot races elsewhere.

I've had TVN since it first started on PayTV and I never watch sky anymore.

Sky just **********s me no end, they keep jumping from meeting to meeting, NZ to SA to HK yet the main meetings in Melbourne & SYndey used to get f***ed around. I'll never forget them showing a NZ race over a Melbourne race one day.

TVN you get up-to-date track info, they talk with jockeys straight after each race, almost always has someone at the track so you get betting info & trainer interviews.
They give you every little market move, if a horse is backed on track they tell you how much it has come in and what %% the markets are at, ie; "the top weight has come in 3 points but the market is at 160%" - That way you know that the move really isn't too great.
Sky tells you about tote moves and thats it.
