Ok I may still listen to MJ, but I think he is a deadset weirdo and would never defend the guy.

Pretty sh*t of you Plugger imho.

I'm not defending what he did, just saying he did a lot of good things too and that there are some double standards in terms of who gets vilified and who doesn't.

That was OK though as they were rock stars, yet Rolf Harris gets hauled over the coals and labelled a dirty pedo just because he was a rock star for kids
Just for kicks, can you point me to the people saying it's okay?

I mean, the guy groped 14 year old girls - maybe he's not the only one who should be in gaol, but he's far from 'hard done by' and 'a good bloke'

seriously, give yourself an uppercut

Taboo art and music.

The cover of the Blind Faith album is one that has caused controversy for decades.

And for those too young, Rolf Harris had an early career as a children’s tv entertainer in Perth.
Lol music- remember the big hooha over Eminem. And Marylin Manson.

I don’t recall Eminem being that controversial. There was that whole satanic panic thing in the 80s and 90s though.
I remember reading a long piece in Rolling Stone in the 80s about the Judas Priest lawsuit, what a joke that was.
Mums freaking out because rap was suddenly popular in the suburbs I guess.
My parent's reaction to PE was every bit as good as the albums, they were horrified. It was fantastic.

I didn't mean people explicitly saying it was OK, I meant that people turned a blind eye to it and implicitly condoned it.

I never got the whole Jimmy Saville as a national treasure thing, I would have never suspected him of doing what he did but he was definitely up there on the weirdo scale to me.

He had a creepy look to him so it didn't come as a huge surprise when all the allegations about him came out, was more of a surprise with Rolf Harris and Bill Cosby

It's a fair point, Harris is a creep but Jimmy Page played in the closing ceremony at the Olympics when as the Beastie Boys pointed out he likes his girlies underage. Bill Whyman married a kid, on the surface there does seem a double standard.

Yeah, there is that. I always view a piece of art as its own thing, separate from its creator. Ted Nugent's politics suck, but I can dig the man's music. Jimmy Page might have been a creep and if there is similar speculation about Robert Plant so be it, but it won't make me stop listening to Led Zeppelin. As it goes though, calling out hypocrisy and double-standard is NEVER a bad thing in my opinion. Plugger35 is absolutely right to call out the double standard that went on with rock stars and their gropies.

Wow.

Love no3. Not a huge fan of no.5.

Like 6. And the other 2 flower pics.
Well there you go re different tastes/likes. First 3 are flowers - well done but still flowers, so a yawn for me. Then saw no:5 and thought - wow, that's very impressive, I really like that. Different strokes for different folks.

My wife is an artist. Oil and acrylic painter with a focus mostly on abstract. I'm jealous of her creative side. It's fun to watch the layers build. Often it's a subconscious thing and it turns into something she didn't expect. You asked what the point of some of it was. From my perspective, it's usually not about creating something for a market or for discussion, but it's about expression. For some reason I know a few people with a creative side and they all get pent up, anxious or moody if they don't have that outlet.

As Shell said, no 3 is the winner in a very good pool of work. Your wife is really talented. Keeping in with the thread topic she's not interested in taboo artwork is she? Going controversial might make her famous!!

Nah. Her work changes and evolves but I’m pretty confident it wouldn’t go down that path.

Actually going dead is the best way for an artist to make money. Unfortunately

Maybe. She uses a lot of orange, pinks and blues so sure she could do a great version of desert or beach. Might request something.

Do a Geelong inspired painting pls.

Take inspo from matty scarlett foot tap to gazza
