TAC Cup Under 19's

I don't know what he's doing with his footy this year, but would've Dash Barolli met the AFLVic criteria to be on the Murray list as an U19yo?

He has had a few injuries and missed a fair bit of footy. Did he play for VC last year, I know he was in the squad of about 40?

I don't think he would. Midfielder who has played 30 games of TAC Cup. Don't recall him getting a game for Vic Country. Had a look back at his stats from last year, really dropped off towards the end of the year. Not sure if there was a different role he was playing - or all the big guns got more midfield time.

He was injured a lot from may onwards and that definitely affected both his form and his chances of playing for VC. I still don't think him having another year of TAC Cup would help his draft chances. He'd be better suited to VFL.

Andy Duhau at Calder.

Fair enough too, his first year in the TAC Cup was as a top ager in 2008. Those guys deserve to play as 19 yr olds.
Did he snag their B & F too? Glad to see him back.

EDIT: Nevermind. Joyce won it, but I'm pretty sure Duhau was up there.

yep, agree 110%:thumbsu:

basically what the rule was created for.
Exactly right Bourky.

It wasn't really created for guys who have already played 40 TAC Cup games, some of them are still slipping through the net and getting permission to play as 19 yr olds but overall I'm happy enough with the rule. We've seen it get results with Tyson Goldsack initially, then I think Jaxson Barham was selected as a 19 yr old father son to the Pies and of course last year Jayden Post was drafted in the second round. In my book that's three guys who perhaps would've found it tougher to get into the AFL system had the 19 yr old rule not existed.

Runner up in the Cannons B&F with 93 votes. Joyce won with 103 votes.

Duhau did get TAC Team of the Year - named on the bench.

Rebels' Bryn Weadon was rookied to Geelong at the end of 2008 after a season of TAC Cup as a 19yo. Can't imagine that would've happened if he didn't get a gig as a 19yo.

Have heard the Rebels have two going around again this year. Jake Garvey who played last year and some big bloke from Warrnambool.

I believe the Pioneers this year are Julian Lockwood 196cm Ruckman chb is only his second year in the system, did not even play at U/15 or u/16 level.

The other is Chris Prockter from Swan Hill, a 196cm chf, chb; whilst this is his third year he did break his collarbone very early last year. Was in line for vic country selection.

Both lads are I believe within the spirit of allowing 19yo to play; have genuine reasons.:thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:
