Do you have a question you would like answered by Richmond President Peggy O’Neal?

From this forum I’d like you to come up with the five most pertinent questions that you’d like answered about the club at this point in time, and Peggy will sit down to answer them.

Not sure how you are going to finalise the list to a final five amongst yourself, maybe a poll, maybe by likes. But I’ll leave it in your hands, with potentially the support of the mods, to come up with what you see as the most important questions that you collectively have.

If one nominated person can post the final five questions in this thread as a singular post at 11am Thursday, then Peggy will answer and we’ll post on the website on Friday.

There is also a thread open on PRE, so if you want to keep an eye across both to ensure there aren’t double ups for the final ten questions, that would be helpful.

Thanks, RFCO

Why is Dan Richardson still employed by the Richmond Tigers as General Manager of Football when he admits that the plan put in place wasn't working towards winning a premiership?

1. 2013 (our best year till date) we finished 5th on the ladder and lost to carlton in the EF - What steps were taken by the club and the footy department in the off season to improve performance in 2014.?
2. 2014 Finished 8th and lost to port Adelaide in the EF - The result clearly showed our performance deteriorated and whatever changes (if any) were implemented in 2013 off season, did not work. what steps did club & FD take to improve performance in 2015?
3. 2015 Finished 5 - Finished 5th and lost to North Melbourne in the EF. Whatever changes (if any) were implemented in 2014 off season, did not work. what steps did club & FD take to improve performance in 2016?
4. 2016 - The coach gets an extension based on the above results. currently sitting at only 7 wins and staring down 10-14th position on the ladder.

Based on the above results, do you accept that RFC failed miserably to address on field issues highlighted in the humiliating EF losses in 2013, 2014 & 2015.?

We are constantly told about the "four walls". Well the members are not in there and want to know what the club is doing to correct this slide? Mere words (which we heard a plenty in the last 3 years) may not work this time. What action is being taken by the club at every level to ensure we don't go back to the wilderness again.

What is the future of RFC? who is accountable for 2016 debacle? what is the club planning to do

Supporters want premiership not humiliating EF losses.

Cheers Peggy for promising to answer questions from some of the most vocal and passionate RFC fans when you know they're all disappointed, and demanding reasons why the season played out as it did.

1. Under the Hardwick reign at PRO the club announced a direction focusing on skilled kicking players with athletic ability, why has the richmond game plan in these years, more so since the elimination final loss against Carlton in 2013 become increasingly defensively/sideways/backwards minded when the rule changes and interchange cap would suggest an offensive free flowing game is the direction the AFL are deliberately pushing the competition towards?

2. How has there been no clarification of the comments made by Dan Richardson or action to address them publicly from management? How has the live radio conversation in which a List/Football Manager stated the primary goal was to retain "competitiveness" without ever seeking premiership glory deemed acceptable? How is this person still employed at the club when his comments ridicule the support of 70,000+ fans and the initial mission statement this group of management staff made their main slogan for success?

3. For the third year in a row, the football department has entered the season with big expectations and failed miserably within the opening rounds. Why? If the pre season schedule has been reviewed thoroughly and found to be satisfactory; how have these results been acceptable? And if they are not, how can you explain the disastrous starts to the season if not for lack of proper planning and preparation?

4. Richmond fans have universally been hanging on to the notion that the list management staff were hunting a "big fish" with the RFC "war chest" for years, an article in 2011 states Dimma Hardwick is looking forward to acquiring the best available talent on the back of the eradication of debt through the Fighting Tiger Fund, a direct quote; ""We feel we have got to invest now. We don't want to go through the next four or five years, and we are in the same cycle again," Hardwick said." Why has this money been spent on "recycled" players instead of a long term, elite "big fish" player? In the 5 years since that article was released besides 3 disappointing elimination finals losses, aren't we now in the same cycle again this year with a "rejuvenation" of the playing group?

I vote these 4 plus rfctiger74's shitty question as the 5th.

Will Hardwick's tenure be extended again prior to the end of the 2018 season, and if so, under what circumstances?

Will Hardwick's tenure possibly be cut short, and if so, under what circumstances?

Why hasn't the club invested in a full time tackling coach, when it has been quite evident by our tackle numbers in the last two years in particular that our players struggle to tackle? Also why aren't our players fit enough to sustain tackling pressure when they do tackle in a game once every three years?, as shown by the bulldogs game when their pressure faded in the last quarter.

Give it a rest SunshineTiger the club is reaching out to communicate with us when they don't have to at all, no need to be a dick about it and then wonder in gone future why they don't do it.

What action is the club planning on taking to ensure the sustained on-field success we as members were promised when Damien Hardwick was signed as coach at the end of the 2009 season? I will acknowledge the fact that the club has been a strong financial performer in the last 6 years. But a significant portion of this should be attributed to paying members, who invested so heavily in the direction the club sold to them. While it was positive to see the club increase it's business network through the investment in fantastic initiatives such as the Alannah and Madeline Foundation and the Korin Gamadji Institute, it appears that very little of the club's membership revenue has been used to achieve long-term on-field success. There are serious questions being asked about certain parts of our football department; namely recruitment and development. It is now clear that our strategy of recruiting mature age players from other clubs has failed and this is extremely disappointing and frustrating considering the fact that we as members were promised a full rebuild through heavy investment in the draft(s) for quality young talent. Furthermore, under the current coaching/development regime, a number of highly touted young draftees appear to have stagnated or gone backwards in on-field performance, which begs more questions. Over the last 3 years, we have endured a great deal of disappointment, yet we have been tolerant. Our membership count of 72,134 is indicative of this. However, it is important that you understand that our disappointment is not solely based on 3 humiliating final losses. It's not that simple. The fact that the members were promised sustained on-field success which would be achieved by means of following a concrete, linear process of recruiting and developing young talent and that the club went back on its promise to follow this vision which it sold to us, makes the failures even harder to take. Currently, the club is not in a good position. I am deeply concerned for the direction of the club, as we will undoubtedly see a significant drop in membership numbers next season. And frankly, who could blame those who choose not to renew considering the circumstances I have explained above. We can't take much more. Once again: What action is the club planning on taking to ensure the sustained on-field success we as members were promised?

Fellow RFC tragics. Maybe we need to think about asking the President more about the administration rather than purely football related questions?

I.e what is Richmonds strategy for football? We seemed to focus on the business first which is now well run. What plans are there now for investment in the football department?

Also what is the vision and strategy for the club now post 3-0-75 and/or will this be unveiled at the AGM so the members know exactly what the club is working towards and how?

So we shouldn't ask, what does Lennon need to get a game? :(

So we shouldn't ask, what does Lennon need to get a game? :(

We know the answer to that...Lay a few tackles.

Word is he he's getting better though, only last week he got up to a jog for a whole 3 steps when 'chasing' an opposition player who had the ball!

why are we allowing our apparel sponsor blk to produce a jumber thar is mustard and grey when we are yellow and black?

what is the money of our supposed warchest actually used for?

why are we so behind other clubs when it comes to sponsorship $ when we are bigger then most of them?
