OP1 - RULES ETC
1625714744295.png

Once upon a time, there existed a giant tree that was the source of
mana. A war, however, caused this tree to wither away, and a hero’s life was
sacrificed in order to take its place. Grieving over the loss, the goddess
disappeared unto the heavens. The goddess left the angels with this edict: “You
must wake me, for if I should sleep, the world shall be destroyed.” The angels
bore the Chosen One, who headed towards the tower that reached up unto the
heavens. And that marked the beginning of the regeneration of the world.

Welcome one and all to Sylvarant. We begin our story in the quaint little town of Iselia, where our heroes reside. They will shortly be embarking on a journey to regenerate the declining world of Sylvarant. Unfortunately, their journey will not be smooth at all as many obstacles lie in wait - the nasty Desians who wreak havoc on the peaceful citizens of Iselia and the more foreboding denizens of Cruxis intent on creating a world without discrimination yet will use any means necessary even if it is radical. Otherworldly creatures like the dangerous Sword Dancer or several other enemies are out there as well all intent on stopping the Chosen from achieving their destiny.

Unbeknown to our party, Sylvarant is one of two worlds that exist, always in constant battle for mana in order to survive. The flourishing world of Tethe'alla will become the declining world if the chosen and her entourage are successful in the mission of regeneration. The battle between Good and Evil is not as simple as it usually is made out to be as who is truly Good? And who Evil?

Yet again, I am running a Werewolf game based on a video game - the acclaimed Tales series, developed and published by Namco has produced many outstanding games - of them Tales of Symphonia is my favourite. Blending real time combat with elements of RPG's, an intense and captivating storyline, some amusing anime style cutscenes, some questionable voice acting and profound characterisation, it makes for an exciting experience with many twists and turns and betrayals; as such, many of these have made their way into this game.

Now, a few things I need to point out before we get to the basics of the game.

1) Reason for Lynching is back - must be a game related reason; if I don't accept it with a "like" react it is not a valid vote.

2) Modkills for inactivity have been replaced with additional lynch votes added - if this applies, I will state this at the beginning of the day. A tally will not be kept for each vote. You must vote every day or two votes will be added to your total the next day.

3) Sped up phases will only occur later in the game and normal deadlines may still apply.

Basic Rules:
At the beginning of the game each player is given a 'role' at random and in secret (via PM) by the moderator.

How are players killed?
Each 'turn' of the game will last approximately 24 hours and also represents one 'day' of game time, thus a game will go on for several days before it is concluded. There are two 'phases' to every turn of the game;

Night Phase (8:00pm – 10:00am):When evil factions secretly decide among themselves, via PM communication, which Villager (one per night) that they shall kill and then inform the moderator via PM. Others with a Night action also enter their actions now via PM to the Mods. Decisions for the night phase are to be in no later than 10am.

Day Phase (10:00am – 8:00pm):After the results of Night actions have been announced, everybody, Villagers, evil, neutral etc discusses and ultimately votes publicly in the game-thread upon which player (one per day) that they shall lynch and kill. Votes for the day phase are to be in no later than 8pm.

At my discretion I may speed up phases but this will only happen when there are 33% of starting players alive AND we may still revert to regular timeframes.

Obviously during the day the Villagers will want the group to vote for and lynch an evil player, whilst the evil players themselves will want not to be lynched; herein lies the fundamental strategy of the game:

Can the villagers identify the evildoers whilst at the same time convincing the rest of the group that they're not evil? And can the evildoers convince the group that they're not evil at all and thus avoid being lynched?

Werewolf Etiquette:

There are two main rules which everyone must follow in order for the game to run successfully;

DEAD PLAYERS MUST LEAVE THE GAME
If you are killed at any point during the game then you are no longer allowed to participate although I will allow a farewell post, but that post cannot impact the remainder of the game. Please if possible refrain from posting or reacting to posts in the thread even if you vehemently disagree with a post or

THERE MUST BE NO PRIVATE COMMUNICATION BETWEEN PLAYERS EXCEPT WITHIN THE GROUPS LISTED BELOW
Except for the above-mentioned groups sending PMs between themselves, other forms of private communication concerning the game are not allowed.

Anyone caught sending screen captures of a PM OR

Anyone caught quoting PMs from the mods will be mod-killed without warning.

EDITING POSTS IS NOT ALLOWED UNLESS IT IS TO FIX A TYPO - IT IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED HOWEVER - punishment for this will be at the discretion of the moderator.

For all other instances, these will be at the moderator's discretion as to whether or not it warrants a modkill however my decision is final.
A modkill made in the last hour before deadline of the daily lynch will result in the lynch being called off for the day and the modkill replacing the daily lynch.

For this game we will be using the Reason for Lynching rule. You must provide a game related reason. "Because I want to" does not constitute a reason. It must be related to the game ie "OES because he is suspicious", OR "OES because he melted when accused of being evil" OR "OES because he didn't die when I tried to kill him last night"
A reason such as "OES because he made it all the way to endgame two games in a row and want revenge on him" or "OES because he barracks for St Kilda and they suck!" WILL NOT be accepted. Put a little thought into it and show you are invested.

Voting:
During the Day Phase players must vote for whom to lynch, your vote must be formatted in bold like this: Player Name. You must tag the moderator OR bold the name for it to be counted - I will like the post to indicate it has been recorded - if a post is not reacted to and you believe it ought to be, please bring it to my attention and I will reconsider it.

Upon the voting deadline (end of day-phase) the votes will be tallied by the moderator and whoever has received the most will be lynched and be out of the game: remember, once killed you cannot take further part; do not reveal your roles to anyone until the game has been concluded.

YOU MUST VOTE EVERY PHASE - IF YOU DO NOT VOTE YOU WILL NOT BE MODKILLED - RATHER, TWO LYNCH VOTES WILL BE ADDED TO YOUR TOTAL AT THE BEGINNING OF EVERY DAY SINCE YOU LAST VOTED - FOR EXAMPLE IF YOU DON'T VOTE DAY ONE, YOU WILL HAVE TWO VOTES TO START ON DAY TWO; IF YOU DON'T VOTE DAY ONE OR TWO, YOU WILL START WITH FOUR ON DAY THREE, ETC. AS USUAL I WILL TAG STRAGGLERS WITH ONE HOUR TO GO BEFORE THE DAILY LYNCH.

Any ties in voting will result in the randomiser determining who is lynched.

WILL ANNOUNCE ROLES AND STUFF SHORTLY - THERE ARE 20 ROLES - 9 EVIL, 2 NEUTRAL (TO START), 9 GOOD. I WOULD LIKE AT LEAST 30-35 PARTICIPANTS. WE WILL BEGIN SUNDAY NIGHT.

OP2 - ROLES
EVIL: (8)

CRUXIS (Mafia) - (3)
Cruxis are the superior race of superior beings behind everything - The Desians are a front for them and they are trying to make everyone equal which sounds nice and cozy but they have sinister ulterior motives. As a faction they submit a kill each night.

Mithos
Yygdrasill
GodfatherMithos is trying to revive his sister Martel; the Goddess that was killed as part of the Great War mentioned above. Mithos cannot be killed AT ALL if Tabatha is still alive - seers as villager
Martel YygdrasillConsigliereMithos' sister and the Goddess who perished in the Great War - her spirit lives on through the Chosens for World Regeneration - Submits a seer every night - if she dies Mithos will inherit the seer ability. Night immune as long as Yuan is alive and hasn't joined the Renegades officially.
TabathaRoleblockerThe failed vessel in the resurrection of Martel must be kept hidden as she is only a robot. While she is alive, Mithos cannot be killed. Chooses who Cruxis will block every night and may not block the same person consecutively. Seers as villager.
1625721321047.png
Pictured: The Four Seraphim - From back, Kratos Aurion, Yuan Ka-Fai, Martel and Mithos Yygdrasill (front - yes that's a guy - he's the younger brother of Martel) - the leaders of Cruxis. Kratos is now a Mercenary working for the Regeneration Party, Martel perished and Yuan is conflicted over whether or not to remain with Cruxis or abandon them for his invention - the Renegades. Tabatha (below) is identical to Martel but is merely a robot Mithos created to be a vessel to revive Martel. Unfortunatelya real human soul is required which is where Collette (the Chosen) comes into it.

1625721544666.png

Yuan will make a decision to join Cruxis or remain at the Renegades however can only join Cruxis if Martel is still alive.
Kratos OR Zelos may join Cruxis also.

WIN CONDITION – ELIMINATE DESIANS, SWORD DANCER, RENEGADES, LLOYD, BOTH CHOSENS (COLLETTE AND ZELOS) AND KRATOS OR YUAN IF THEY CHOOSE NOT TO SIDE WITH CRUXIS.

DESIANS (Wolves) - (5)

The Desians run Human Ranches throughout Sylvarant (and yes that is exactly what it sounds like) and are trying to complete something called the Angelus Project which involves using something called an Exsphere which makes the holder powerful. However as nice as Exspheres sound they represent something abhorrent - The Human Ranch part should give that away but anyway.... these guys are pure evil and very deadly. They also get to submit a kill each night.
PronymaAlpha WolfYygdrasill's right hand woman - pure evil and leader of the Desian Grand Cardinals - She cannot be killed at night and seers as villager - submits a seer every night - Seers as villager
KvarBeta WolfAlso evil and runs the Angelus Project of which Lloyd's mother was killed as a part of - Lloyd vows swift revenge on him. Takes over as Alpha if Pronyma is killed - inherits her seer and seering as villager as well as night immunity if this is the case.
RodyleVengeful WolfUpon his death, two dragons will be sent to kill two random people who voted for him if lynched - if night killed, his attacker/s and one other random player are killed (this role happens immediately upon Rodyle's death)
MagniusWolfassists with nightly kills
ForcystusWolfassists with nightly kills
1625721767281.png
Pictured: The Five Desian Grand Cardinals, each intent on stopping all that oppose them and harvesting humans (yes you read that correctly) to create Exspheres... Pronyma is the sexy bitch at the top, then clockwise from her we have Rodyle, Kvar, Forcystus and Magnius

WIN CONDITION – ELIMINATE CRUXIS, SWORD DANCER, RENEGADES AND EQUAL OR OUTNUMBER THE VILLAGE

NEUTRAL ROLES (3)

Sword DancerSerial KillerSeers as villager - cannot die at night and must make final four to win - kills someone every night
1625722149628.png
Pictured: Not sure this picture does this guy justice because he is terrifying but you can probably guess how he got his name by looking at him right?

WIN CONDITION - ...... DID YOU NOT READ ABOVE? - MAKE FINAL FOUR TO WIN.

THE RENEGADES (THE VAMPS - KIND OF)

Created by Botta and Yuan, this is a band of fighters which take neither the side of Good nor Evil and as such are kind of the definition of a neutral role - they are not strictly enemies to the Regeneration Party because even though they look and dress like Desians, their whole company policy revolves around trying to stop Cruxis (and therefore) the Desians without them knowing they are trying to stop them - in other words they are kind of like Double Agents.

Yuan Ka-FaiDOUBLE AGENTYuan is the leader of the Renegades which were created because after originally starting with Cruxis he realised he disagreed with their ideals (mainly after his lover Martel died) Yuan will begin this game as Head of the Renegades however will not share a PM with Botta. Each night he will submit a kill on behalf of the renegades, however he also can choose whether or not to join Cruxis. On night two, if Martel is still alive, he may opt to join Cruxis and turn his back on the Renegades which will then make Botta the leader of the Renegades. If he chooses to remain at the Renegades, he will become Head Vampire and automatically be added to a PM with Botta. Until a decision is made, Yuan and Botta will have their own separate PMs.
Whichever of these Yuan chooses will be announced in the thread. Seers as villager.
BottaHead Vampire/Vampire Recruit (depending on if Yuan joins him or not)Seers as villager - cannot claim his role or he is modkilled. If Yuan chooses to join Cruxis, or passes away BEFORE making the decision, Botha will become head vampire. Only once the head vampire has been assigned can they recruit people and they may recruit only villagers. The Head Vampire will also have night immunity. Cannot recruit more than three and can kill every alternating night. Upon the death of the Head Vampire, all recruits will revert to their original status as villager and the Renegades will disband.

1625722335402.png
Pictured: Botta- along with Yuan makes up the Renegades who are on the lookout for recruits.

WIN CONDITION – There are a few win conditions for the Renegades. They win with the village win condition for a start. But if the entire Regeneration Party is defeated, they can also win as long as the number of Renegades is MORE THAN (not EQUAL TO) the number of remaining players in the game. (ie if there are eight remaining – four renegades, two cruxis, one villager and one desian they don’t win as they are not outnumbered yet)

GOOD (9)

WIN CONDITION – Eliminate Cruxis, Desians and the Sword Dancer. If only the village and Renegades are alive, they win together.

THE REGENERATION PARTY (9)

The Students (Flogs)

Lloyd, Collette and Genis make up the students (of flogs) even though they are all quite powerful - Lloyd's Exsphere which is a symbol of his mother, though he doesn't know it at the start of our story, Collette the Chosen one and Genis a talented Black Mage. The three know each other are innocent however each have a special power they are able to use upon the death of a certain character:

Lloyd IrvingFlogInnocent and shares a PM with Collette and Genis - if Kvar is killed, her gets to submit a kill of his own next night phase; If Kratos betrays them he gets to submit a kill every night
Collette BrunelFlogInnocent and shares a PM with Lloyd and Genis - if she dies, she gets to select one of the following angel powers which will happen the following night (or day if she is lynched)
Angel Feathers - determine who is Tabatha and reveal to the other flogs;
Judgment - Immediately kills the lowest ranked Desian Cardinal (this move overrides night immunity);
Holy Song - Grants protection for 24 hours for ALL members of the Regeneration Party
Genis SageFlogInnocent and shares a PM with Lloyd and Collette - if Raine is killed, he will be able to select one of the following spells:
Fire Ball (fire spell) - Burns target and will kill them anywhere from 3-6 phases;
Lightning (lightning spell) - strikes target which shocks them into not voting next day;
Aqua Edge (water spell) - makes target's lynch vote fall back onto them;
Wind Thrust (wind spell) - Redirect their lynch vote to another player randomly;
Stone Blast (earth spell) - immobilises target for 12 hours rendering them unable to post or react to messages;
Icicle (ice spell) - blocks their target for that night.
If Kratos betrays them, he can cast a different spell each night.

Kratos AurionMercenaryA Mercenary tasked with assisting the Chosen Collette in her Journey of Regeneration. Knows the identity of Collette but not Lloyd or Genis - can seer or protect someone every night while he is in the regeneration party (cannot do the same on consecutive nights) - on night three if still alive, he will be given a clue as to who Mithos is and has until the end of the following day phase to guess correctly who it is (he gets three guesses) If he guesses correctly who Mithos is he will have the opportunity to either join Cruxis and betray the Regeneration Party OR remain with them and turn his back on Cruxis. His decision will be announced in the thread. Seers as villager.
Raine SageProtectorGenis' older sister and the teacher at Iselia where the three kids live, is a highly skilled White Mage and hence protects someone every night. She can self protect - cannot choose the same target on consecutive nights.
Zelos WilderSeerThe Chosen of Tethe'alla; Zelos is buoyant and arrogant. Submits a seer and learns their role while he is in the Regeneration party. Seers as villager. On night four if Kratos has elected not to join Cruxis he will have the opportunity to do so himself provided he can guess who Mithos is. This decision will be revealed in the thread.
Regal BryantPresidentA prisoner the group finds who is working for the Pope (he's not in this game but he'd make a good Serial Killer - seriously though, he's a prick) to bring the Party to justice - but he also harbours a terrible secret which is why he is a prisoner. As President of the Lezerano Company, Regal's vote is worth two. Cannot reveal who he is as his identity of President is secret. If he does reveal, he will be modkilled. Seers as villager.
Presea CombatirVigilanteAnother resident of Tethe'alla who the party comes across after their successful (?) journey for regeneration. Quiet and reserved but DEADLY with an axe, Presea submits a kill every night regardless of what the village thinks - cannot hit anyone in the Regeneration Party (including the flogs)
Sheena
Fujibayashi
SummonerCan summon spirits to do a variety of things - selects a different spirit each night which is completely random - She selects which target to aim for. The spirits are:
Undine (water spirit) - Will issue a deluge of water causing the target's night action to backfire and hit themself. If target is a villager it will redirect their next lynch vote to themself;
Efreet (fire spirit) - sets a player ablaze which will kill them any time in the next three phases;
Sylph (Wind spirit) - redirects a target's night action to someone else (apart from their target or back to Sheena herself) if they are a villager, it will randomly redirect their lynch vote;
Luna (Light Spirit/s) - illuminates a target revealing their role to the village;
Volt (Lightning Spirit) - shocks a target rendering them speechless all day;
Gnome (Earth Spirit)- causes an earthquake which immobilises the target making them unable to post OR react for 24 hours;
Celsius (Ice Spirit) - block on target from night action;
Shadow (Spirit of Darkness) - shroud target in darkness making the entire faction unable to perform any night moves. If the target is a villager Sheena will be unable to summon Celsius or Shadow. If the target is in a faction, Sheena will have a greater probability of summoning Shadow
1625723990685.png
Pictured: From left - Regal, Presea, Zelos, Sheena (I will get more pictures of her don't worry), Lloyd, Collette, Genis, Raine and Kratos again.

VILLAGERS - Ordinary inhabitants of Sylvarant and Tethe'alla with no special role.

SPECIAL EVENTS

There are a couple of special events which can occur during the game. I’ll point them out as they occur.

PRIORITY

NIGHT IMMUNITY has priority zero. Mithos has immunity from kills always until Tabatha dies then he has ZERO protection.

COLLETTE’S angel moves are priority zero and happen immediately upon her death.

RODYLE’S vengeful double strike has priority zero as this happens immediately after his death.

ANY guess, hint or other action that triggers an event as opposed to making a night move has priority zero however if the death is by modkill they void that action.

RAINE casting protection (or self protection has Priority one

SHEENA summoning has priority two - only protection from Raine will be cast first but obviously if the spell does not kill, it can still strike a night immune.

TABATHA casting a role block has priority three

GENIS’ actions will have priority four whether it is the one off or the constant.

ANY Seer will have priority five.

KRATOS casting protection will have priority six.

ANY night kills have priority s and are the last moves to be cast of a night.

To illustrate a Doctor self protecting will be cast first meaning any seer kill or block on them will be protected.

Or if Sheena casts a killing move on someone who Kratos chooses to protect she has precedence and the protection will fail.
