Just wondering Essendon_FC why we were playing our 'home games' at Highgate Reserve in the second half of the VFL calendar year for 2014?
Yeah, have to admit I'm not a fan. Especially if we're being forced to pick up the slack, so to speak, from Richmond seemingly abandoning their Craigieburn experiment.

The fact the team plays at Windy Hill as 'Essendon' is a big plus and this, in my view, dilutes it.

What area is Cragieburn?

On a plus side, we seem to be the only team playing (versus Richmond @ Punt Rd) on the weekend of the state game, bit of a 'curtain raiser' to an Essendon v Richmond DreamTime clash that night (31st May, 2013, 7:45pm). That'll be a good day/night :thumbsu:

So some of our players will have to miss the state game? Like Sikora, Duscher etc.

Not sure if this is still being seen by the club but just in case it is...

What's up with the date and time of the Family Day???

How can you expect families that live out of Melbourne to get there? A Friday at 5:30 is ridiculous!

My kids have been asking when it is as they are so excited to go and get Paddy's and Fletch's autographs. Now i have to tell them they can't go and see there heroes because there is no way I can make it there by 5:30 on a Friday after work when we live in Ballarat, 90 minutes away. Really seems that the club has only considered it's Melbourne supporters in this decision. Disappointed.

Now that Nathan Buckley has acknowledged that high altitude is a load of garbage and the club who initiated this crap will no longer do it, does that mean we will cease doing as well ?
The Pies are getting High Altitude Training rooms, as are Essendon, they've had some fundraising calls for them.

Buckley states that he wanted to pursue ' Training in Heat '. You'd assume that there would be a suitable location in Australia with the required infrastructure.

Hi Darth,

Appreciate the feedback.

We've had a few people comment on the time/day - there will be a few things that we are rolling out in the next week that will explain the timing a bit/hopefully assist with Bomber families traveling from country VIC. A key factor for consideration was around heat issues we've had in the last few years.
I'll PM you when the info is available on the website.

Getting a few runs/some pre-season weights sessions in, thanks for the concern ;)

Checking the thread regularly and loving the VFL chat - was ready to answer some questions on Saturday but unfortunately the forums were down.

Sorry about that. The whole site was indeed down for about five or six hours on Saturday morning as we were upgrading to a newer version of the forum software.
