even though it was a crap exhibition game you can tell the bombers are very hungry

davey looked good but you'd wanna hope he showed something because he turns 23 during the season so he's not a raw kid like jetta

bachar houli will be a good player pick 42 was a joke and aslong as he stays injury free will be a class act

bombers look good and will be out to prove something this year how long it lasts we'll wait and see

bombers are toast this year.....Hird goes down with the perrenial hammy they are lost in space. Dont forget he is a year older and can be covered and tagged...after that...the stantons etc of this world just dont cut the mustard.;)

Pretty biased statement, i thought he was pretty average. Didnt get alot of the ball and wasnt really that effective. Krakour was decent and should of kicked 4-5 but his get 2 or very iffy freekicks that he milked.
From one 'biased statement' to another, then.

dont get fooled by their win ratio, they threw the towel in after lloyds injury

we all know sydney dont turn up first 5 weeks but round 1 last yr they looked VERY good and they have added to their list a lot

im just saying dont be suprised if they are top 6 by the break

if they were to have some luck with injuries then they could be competitive , if not , expect more of the same ...Problem for them is their reliance on an old band of players...remind us of the vintage and endurance of hird, Fletcher and now add LLoyd to that mix

so if hird goes down they are in trouble, that goes with saying mate every club will struggle without their best player

im just saying at full strength they will take it upto anyone but as i said before how long it lasts will be the problem

Every club will struggle without their best player? What about West Coast? Take away Judd and they still have the best midfield in the comp by far. Sydney? Take away Barry Hall and they would still win alot of games because of the nature of their gameplan. Even us! Richo does his knee in 1995 when he is our only top class player and we still finished top 4. Only complete hack teams struggle without one of their best players. Take away 2 or 3...then they might have an excuse.

Essendon will finish bottom 4 because despite a great forwardline and solid backline they have the worst midfield in the league...and thats what this game is all about nowadays.

when have we seen barry hall injured? the fact is we havent and thats why many people still dont rate sydney because they havent had to do it the hard way

judd did a hammy and the eagles did struggle a bit but they are the premiers and were still good enough to win games

the richo comparison is rubbish

im just saying you cant say ohhh what if hird or lloyd get injured again im just looking at full strength and dont mind the look of the bombers

worst midfield give me a break id love stanton or watson who arent quick but can get 30 possies for fun its no use having guys like meyer and tambling when they can only get it 20 times between them

You're comparing their best onballers to a couple of underdeveloped 20 year olds......might make a for a fairer comparison if you were to throw couglan johnson and tuck who can also rack up 30 possies for fun, throw in foley and deledio and i would say we have them covered in the guts...and our guts are pretty avegare at this point in time.
Everybody is definitely getting prematurely excited about the dons because of the inclusion of an old uninterested footballer joining their list, who might i add had four kicked on him by the scrawny neagle in a intra club.
The dons will NOT finish above 12th.

Chances are though, that the 20 Meyer/Tambling get will be much more effective and gamebreaking which is what you want.

Didn't Brian Royal say in an article a week back that Deledio won't be the player to get it 35 times like West but his 20 or so will be so damaging that you don't need him to get it 30+ times to consider him playing a "great" game.

Stanton IS only 20 and an extremely talented kid who can get it.
Meyer and Tambling both have to step it up considerably this year.

lol at brian royal the guy is an idiot how many interviews has he been to for a top job and still cant get a senior gig he should get the hint

deledio isnt going to get 35 like west but he is capable of getting high 20's and doing other damage like bounces through the middle and goal kicking which he needs to work on

the fact of the matter is that the more stanton and watson get the footy essendon will have possesion, if they can get the ball to their more damaging players id hardly call it a crap midfield

yeah deledio and Foley are also very young and talented and shown something at the top level, why do meyer and tambling have to be compared to stanton, they will come on this year. The dons also have several underachieving youngsters. Stanton has also had a lot more opportunity in the midfield then tamblimg and meyer combined, due to a severe lack of midfield depth.

Stanton is good but you must concede his kicking leaves a little to be desired, check out his clanger count from last year. Watson also doesnt have any feet......it really isnt a potent midfield at all.

My point is that to call Stanton one of their best onballers(your words) is a real compliment to him.
I'm not so worried about Tambling as I think he'll make it if given the opportunities.
Meyer I'm not so convinced about at all.
