who will be the better player?

both were top 4 picks, both have had some debate over their selections, both are fairly similar players (flashy, fast midfield/forwards)

thomas had a terrific start to his career but faded slightly to the end. he has shown that he can perform in the big games

tambling as yet hasn't really proven himself yet, but with 2 years of experience under his belt, he is expected of a lot this year

who will be the better player?

Yet another Tambling V Anyone poll by a Richmond supporter. I'm sure he'll win one poll eventually. The Tambling draft clanger is going to haunt Tiges supporters for a long long time. :)

there has only been 2

Dale Thomas had done more in 1 year than Tambling has in 2 years. Although that's not saying much.

Stop comparing Tambling to other players.

He is not a great player yet and nobody on Big Footy can see his potential yet by the looks of other polls.. so just stop comparing him before he starts tearing teams apart.

Compare him NEXT YEAR when he's had his first big season :D

Your continued bagging of Tambling will come back to haunt you;)
Head down to Richmond training and see him tear it up

Is he a February Champion? Like Kent Kingsley a I guess. :)
Its not february parrot.
Just like all the blues fand getting excited over the training efforts of the young blues

Not excited by our training actually. More exciting by the rapidly accumulating top-shelf talent on the Blues list. Massive raw potential and upside on every line now. Still a lot of work obviously, but there's little wonder why there's a quiet confidence down at Princes Park nowdays. :)

Must Tambling be compared to a new player every week?

These poor fools who constanly bag him will be quite silent when he does show his true talent. It is fear that drives them to do it. Take their pot shots now while he has not performed and then when he does they will go missing.

Suppose that can't be helped when you have a top three pick year in year out again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again ...

Well remember AD took 2 years of top draft picks off us, during his campaign to get the top AFL job. A lot of the credit for the Blues current abundance of talent, has to go to Hughes - without doubt the best recruiter going around. He has been carefully designing a young team to win flags. He has been emphasising raw talent over media-favourites, even if such players require more development. A classic example this year is the choice of Hampson over Renouf. A real drafting masterstroke. There are numerous other examples on our list - Fisher, Bower, Edwards, Hartlett, Betts, Flint, Jackson, Setanta, Aisake, Jacobs, Simpson, Blackwell, etc etc etc. Admiditly, being able to acquire Gibbs this year was a stroke of luck - probably the best #1 pick in the past 15 years. But after AD's anti-Carlton vendetta, we deserved a bit of luck. We now look like being stronger than ever in the near future, and reclaiming our traditional powerhouse status after a few mediocre years. :)

That was all a few centurys ago now surely. Do I detect a bit of a persecution complex. You do the crime you do the time don't whinge about it.

I agree Carlscum oops I mean Carlton have some damn fine young players. The battle you have is:

a) Keeping them
b) Getting your off field team to stop acting like a group of spoilt teenage private school brats and start running a football team and business.

If you get b) right a) will probably take care of itself.

Once those things happen you guys will be scary.

Personally I hope it never happens.
