Been a big defender of this kid...I thought Wallace finally got it right when he had him running off HB v Melbourne...so somebody tell me why he moved him again ....he was very ordinary v Carlton and today...well couldn't fault his effort ...and it wasn't that he was bad....just generally ineffectual...though he sparked up in junk time again in the last and also should've been awarded a free for that tackle instead of being penalised for a push in the back....

BTW ..does Healy even watch the game? He had him as "vastly improved"...idiot...

Nothing game from Tambling today. He started the season really well, but he last few weeks since that Melbourne game (and the couple before it) he has been really down on form.

I disagree and say you should watch some football, not just the insides of your arse.

with the number of games tambling has played he should be a star, but compared to other of the same vintage and more recent drafts he is still lagging behind.

Tambling looks good when he's brought into the game. On the receiving end of something. Jordy showed him how to win a ball and use it.

Somebody in the newspaper who watches every fifth Tambling game, as usual, and many here, will overrate Tambling again.

Were we any better for Tambling playing today?

Nupe.:thumbsd:

I just don't think Wallace has ever handled him particularly well. Should've been in a floating roles switching between the back and the forward, he needs space to run and gain confidence...confidence is his main problem...he's still far too tentative and still too small for the midfield...he works harder now to get to a contest , but he seldom arrives with a plan or a cool head...if he gets the ball he never breaks clear and either get's tackled straight away or he just blindly passes or more often just blindly hits it away as if he thinks it's his job just to free up the ball and keep it moving without consideration to where it actually goes ....and defensively just gets brushed too easily....as demonstrated today ,he's better ambushing slowly moving isolated players from behind...but how often do those oppurtunities arise...especially against the good sides....

Pretty sure at the end of the year we'll still be debating the boy.

We knew Cothcin was going to be an elite AFL player the first time he kicked a senior footy.

Tambling has had plenty of time to develop. He may be in our best 22, but he's never going to be in our best 10 players.

If we could we get a good trade at the end of the season, you'd have to think about it.

confidence is his main problem
If any of us ever get to meet him in person, we should genuinely say to him "You're a champion mate, you're a star! I love watching you play, looking forward to watching you in the yellow and black over the next 10 years." Seriously. Every little but helps. If enough people do it, he might start to believe it. Not believe that what he does is good enough, but that he has what it takes.

What? Doesn't he have a brain?
Can't he generate enough will-power himself?
He's supposed to be an elite sportsman.

Oh *weep*.....let's all give Richie a bottle of milk and rock him gently in his pram.

Tell him to grow up.
All he needs to do is watch Cotchy, Foley, Lids or even Kingy get a kick.

No sympathy here. Sorry.

Frustrates me this boy

You see him grab the pill, give a dummy side step and drill one from 50 one minute,:D

The next minute you see him trip up over his own feet resulting in a turn over and the ball gets taken down the other end of the field.

I am at loss with what to do with him. :(

I pitty you

Meanwhile, are you suggesting that he had a great game and has been in reasonable form the last few weeks. Get you hand off it! I have defended him as much as I can, but in reality he has been gifted numerous games at the RFC and hasn't paid the club back. He has played, what 60 odd games? Although he has shown glimpeses, he has only ever twice or 3 times gotten over 20 disposals. Stat's aren't everything, but they are definatly a good star.

Trade bait along with Raines imo. 2 player that might actually get us something decent. Tambling for a top 20 pick, Raines a top 25

doesnt do enough but what he does is still damaging. He still definately earns a game at this club and dropping him would be terrible.

Once he starts picking up 25 possies a game he will be a damaging midfielder.

Tambling for me is a GOOD player, who is prone to the odd flash of brilliance, like his goal from 50 after a baulk yesterday, and his 4 goals in a quarter against the Eagles. I think once people realise this, we can move on from getting so annoyed at him not being the star he was touted at being.

a good ordinary player as jack dyer used to say.
but i wouldn't mind him going to to coburg occasionally - for his game day confidence and to give someone else a chance in the seniors.

if we trade tambling its gonna be the biggest bite on the ass of all time. tambling's problem is just body mass. give him another 5 kgs he'll dominate. that goal from 50 was all class.

This could be the key. He get's his hands on it enough in the middle but is knocked over or slips over. If he could keep his feet more he would be a much better player. That being said he does play a role in at the stoppages. He is often scrambling for the ball and making sure it isn't being ripped out by the opposition.

I think he still might need to increase his tank and run more for the recieves. If he can get on the end of a few hand balls and use his pace he will be a very good player. Lids has only just started to really do this this year so there is no reason why Bling can't lift his output after another preseason. He has always been a little behind Lids.

It can't all be put down to body mass - though that is a factor. Look at Shane Edwards, appeared to have aeons more time than Tambling to get rid of the ball in the centre because he has good awareness, too often Tambling simply turns back into traffic and is nailed. He needs to learn when to get a quick handball out right away and when (and where) to try and break free of the pack.

Yep. Some spud here the other day reckoned it'd be almost worth trading him to the Hawks so we could mock them for all the shit they gave us over him. Imagine the shit they'll give us if he went there and came good. I can hear them now..."all he needed was to get away from your shit club and play for our "champion" club" or "haha we used Tambling to screw you twice"...we'd never hear the end of it...:o

Would prefer not to trade Tambling, I still think he will be worth it. Maybe more of a Leon Davis type than an A class mid, but I still rate the kid and think he will be valuable to us in years to come.

Where to begin when it comes to his reading of the ball....SHOCKING. You'd expect him to be at least around abouts, but he's always chasing his opponent. He was constently beaten by various opponent yesterday. ALso didn't take 1 single running bounce, don't like that. And finally not a ONE TOUCH player (mr fumbles).

I hope Tambling gets dropped before Connors, give him a kick up the ass. I'm sick of seeing him jogging behind the play!
