He is a re-active ball watcher, if you're not going for the ball, you have to tackle. The sheer volume of his attemtps make those figures plumper than they should be

Sorry, but that doesn't cut it with me. If he wasn't 100% - HE SHOULD NOT HAVE PLAYED. Put in a kid who actually wants to be there and give him a go rather than risk a senior player who isn't in peak condition, especially against a top side like the Dogs.

Hawkers ... that's because we really haven't developed too many players at all. Look at the experienced group of players. Richo and Bowden were both father-son picks ... that is, they pure and simply landed in our laps. Others who have played significant amounts of games - Brown, Simmonds, Johnson - all arrived via other clubs.
Others to have played plenty of games for us in recent times, such as gaspar and Stafford, all started elsewhere and played a lot of games at their previous club.
The only guy we have drafted in the past decade or more who went on to palay a high number of games was Mark Chaffey. Now, hardly a household name, albeit he was solid.
Our attempts at developing players have been woeful. The draft that delivered both Deledio and Tambling, we had five picks in the top 20. Only Deledio has lived up to the hype. Tambling has been above average, but no more. Meyer is gone, Polo has struggled and Pattison is a battler who gets the best out of himself. But I don't think it's possible that we could have stuffed up four out of five selections that early in a draft. Just not possible. Developing talent is where the fault lies!!
I look at this list of players and ask myself, who will be still runing around for us in say six to eight years time from the current crop of players at Tigerland.
I would suggest Cotchin is a sure bet, ditto for Riewoldt and Deledio and then I'd struggle to give you another name.

We struggle developing. Another thing I will say is we have a guy on the list who has big wraps on him here on Big Footy who goes by the name of Collins. Now this guy has been on our list, what for three years, yet we haven't seen him at senior level.
That's alarming. 1. We either are having trouble helping him make the grade, or 2. he plain ain't good enough (which I don't believe). Now, don't you find that strange? I sure do!!!

Coughlan: He has been poorly managed over his career. Sending him to Germany for hamstring treatment which is meant to get you back playing AFL quickly. He hasn't played for 2 years so I don't see why that was necessary as that was months and months ago. Waste of money and not the right path to take, we didn't need him back quickly we needed him to heal properly.

Cotchin: Worst of them all, letting a young upcoming star overdo it in the preseason is just shocking for paid 'professionals'. I'm sure you will come back with the 'They couldn't stop him' line but that is B.S. They should be in constant contact with injured players and should let them know their limitations.

Assistant Coaches: They need to go as they have been working with Wallace long enough now to be sucked into his plague of amateurishness. Don't care if they're any good, need a total revamp. New faces down at the club to show the players we are serious about developing a premiership side. F*** us around and you're gone. Wayne Campbell was a soft player who picked up cheap possessions, exactly how our players play, how coincidental. Our development coaches have to go, this is one of the areas we are worst in. High draft picks turn into duds, seemingly with all the talent in the world, few years later, gone. Good riddance, Craig Mcrae and Jade Rawlings.

i agree completely. the painful thing for tiger fans is that it cant/wont happen all at once. wallace at this stage doesnt look like getting another contract so hyperthetically you would end up with new assistants also. the new coach and the board have to then make drastic changes to the area of player development. whilst not being a tiger supporter (my wife is), i do take a bit of interest in them. from where i sit the recruitment and development departments at richmond have just as much to answer for as wallace

Never mind that he's said it was his knee that was sore, and that he told the medicos he was fine to go back on, and that it's a DIFFERENT part of his hamstring.

Yep, great idea. Set everything back years by starting completely from scratch, whether it's needed or not. Don't bother trying to work out what is ACTUALLY good or bad, just toss it all out.

actually MJ if you watch a replay you'll see that the lower part of the hammy was being worked on by the doc at 3/4 time and that is the very part of the hammy that went..... dont mistake a player doing his duty and sticking up for the club as gospel.

It has been well and truly established the initial trouble wasn’t hamstring related. A coincidence.

Poorly managed? And slipping over in the shower was the medicos fault? His hammies have been good since returning from Germany. He is now fine, should be back in 2 weeks.

Cotch is training full tilt with the main group. He is so far fine. All reports were it would have happened at any club and our medical staff cannot be held responsible. Boys Achilles in a mans body is how Doc Larkin explained it. You tell me what club has had an injury free season/pre-season?

Campbell, what has he done wrong since coming over from the Doggies? And what is wrong with McCrae? And forgive me, but I was under the impression Rawlings was doing a super job with the Burgers.

I was at the game, I was watching it, I've talked to the relevant people. I'm not just taking his word for it at all.
