The Victorian taxpayer foots the bill in every case the prosecution/police are ordered to pay court costs, so why is it now an issue? Oh, because it's a Geelong player, I see.

I think it is an issue in this case because it appears it was a really bad decision to prosecute in the first place.

IMO, since the whole charge was fabricated, the person making the false allegation should be forced to pay the legal costs for everyone involved.

I hope he can comeback from this and continue his career. I can't imagine what he's been through now it is known the whole thing was fabricated! There is a spot for him in the team and Geelong now have two midfielders going into 2026, we sure do need two more midfielders! The Lions cleaned us right up in that department! All the best to Tanner Bruhn in 2026 and beyond!

This ... THIS really fcken irks me.... When folks lie and ruin lives.
For what reason?? F'd if I know...
Whats also starting to really piss me off.
Is... i have heard the prosecutors/officer in charge of the investigations knew of this very early on.
Now... That!! Is really the kick in the balls!!
When those pushing this barrow knew early on it was a lie from the get go.

I'll use my legitimate sources (not "mystery mid/prepare for staggering" ITK) to see if I can find out. Keep in mind, key witnesses didn't really fall apart until put in the witness box.

I don't have strong feelings about how The Age ends today's article, but the irony is palpable.

Shirley the name is being bundled around G town

Spare a thought for the co-accused who, unlike Tanner, had his name and face splashed across the media at a time when a lot of people were probably presuming guilt.

I'm sure they are both glad to put this behind them, but it won't be easy for either.
Yeah Spot On... just a kents act on the fabricator. He must be some sort of dead set A hole.

Dickwad behaviour, if true.

It doesn't seem right to me that the DPP can lay charges against someone that they already know are highly unlikely to lead to a conviction, put an innocent person through a year of undeserved punishment, and then quietly drop the accusation just before it gets to court. Seems like a malicious misuse of the DPP position. In my opinion, possible malfeasance like this needs to be investigated with the potential of consequences ranging from a reprimand up to and including disbarment.

Agreed!! It's gonna be an interesting read when the investigation results return.

Not true, I can vouch for that much.

But they did persist with the committal when it should have been abandoned.
So is that after they already knew they had a problem with the key witness and his claims/evidence??
Like i said the internal investigation will be an interesting read.
Better still it will be sent to IBAC, which is the key here... not what VicPol really needs at this point.
Anyways. I had my say.
As in life... We move on, as there is a draft on the horizon.

Maybe not but if I was TB I would be using the GF in any civil suit.

He could argue that despite continuing to be paid that a year without footy cost him opportunities to play to a level that could see his next contract be an increase, cost him sponsorship and endorsements and cost him a chance to play in a premiership. All because an accuser and a witness lied. They've damaged his livelihood and the GF should form part of his case to that effect. If he so chooses.
I think TB's Legal Counsel's main interest will be in locking in the complainant's/witness's silence. Not any monetary payout (see Streisand effect). If TB was closer to the end of his career, a monetary payout would make sense. Thoughts, Reg Hickey ?

Will the Court Transcripts be made public? How did the Witness crack under questioning? Did the Prosecution try to cover over (by raising objections etc.) their Witness's inconsistencies?

What are you on about?
The witness cracking was shown 6 weeks ago.

Why the hell would transcripts be made public?

You've said that you're not legal. Maybe walk away?

You probably need to think a second before you post. Not everyone is "skinny-dipping" in legal processes and the court deliberations 6+ weeks ago.

In many countries trials are public & transcripts are made public. Maybe read outside your bubble a bit. It was a genuine question from my side.

A while back, you've said that you're not a 24x7 Troll. Maybe walk away?
