Should have taken Membrey instead of Duffy. Duffy was erratic when they drafted him and nothing changed.

In all honesty members has not done that much IMO, couldn't get a run at Sydney, strong side like us at the time and been in and out at saints, not Ross would've played him ahead Mayne.

Membrey has had an excellent season for St Kilda and has kicked 44 goals and has a strong body and is a pretty good kick for goal. The fact that we had Mayne meant that we never really considered recruiting a goal kicking third tall and that was a mistake imo.

I thought tanner show something this year , i think the hammy must be pretty bad. Also maybe freo can only offer him rookie spot that he think he might not want.

Suprised he got delisted. Seems the injuries got him in the end. If it wasnt fir that hamstring injury, he would of got a few more games to show his ability...
.
So our tall forward stocks are now Tabs and Apeness. Freo board must me confident they will either trade for mccarthy or use that 1st rounder for Marshall

Totally agree. Marshall looks almost certain now.

Have I missed something? Didn't he get games this year because we were short of talls? And now Pav's retired. I'm a little surprised at the confidence of our list managers: they must be sure that there's a couple of Wayne Carey/Luke McFarlin types in this draft at our picks...

Either that or they've got Hogan.

The prognosis from the medicos must have been that his body is not up to the rigours of AFL. Tanner was sensational when he played.

Can't believe we'd have delisted him otherwise, as we found a perfect role for him.

Thanks for the memories Tanner.

Enjoyed watching this years games Tanner Smith played in , gave his all ! Certainly gave a spark to our forward line .

Footy is such a cruel game sometimes.

He was looking really promising and then a bad hammy at the worst possible time costs him his career.

There is an old story about a bloke named Def Forward who could never decided whether he wanted to work with metals or with leather. As a teenager he became an apprentice blacksmith by day and a tanner by night. Unfortunately Def Forward couldn't manage the workload and after 4 years he was mediocre at both smithing and tanning.
Moral of the story you can be a tanner or a smith but not both.

Edit; I feel bad about this shit joke. I really hoped he'd be kept but that final hammy must have been the last straw

I'm not overly surprised but it's still a bit of a shame. Glad he got to experience a win and his first (and only) goal in footy.

He kicked 2 - one in each of the games he played this year.

Hope he stays in WA and signs up with WP. He's a very good WAFL player and with the lighter training/fitness regime he'll star ala Brock OBrien, Andrew Browne, Andrew Foster, etc, etc...

3 years on the list. Finally starts to show something ....... delist.

Injuries at the worst possible time.

So we have Apeness and Taberner as our only KPF's.

Sandi, Griff, Clarke, Hannath as Rucks. Clarke likely to be leaving. Hannath should probably be delisted. Griff and Sandi at most 2 years left.

Expecting a big influx of talls over the next few seasons.

Yep. Pretty tragic. I think he was worth retaining because of his improvement this year, but the latest setback may have meant a compromised preseason, which would have made the risk too great.

Freo must have targetted specific players in the draft plus be very confident about Cam. You don't delist kpp unless they can be upgraded for better options. Cam and Marshall are highly likely and he'll be even further down the order with Tabs and Ape ahead of him.

The way things are going, i'd be blown away if we're not covered. Given Tabs wasn't given a run late in the season they're obviously not depending on him. Surely it's Apeness, McCarthy plus some younguns.
