Hi Guys,

Been thinking about this for awhile now, and i mentioned it a few times in other threads, but who would you prefer to use our first pick on?

For me i really like the look of Tape and think he will be a good fit for the Hawks, but i doubt he will last that long. I see him as a top 15 pick :( which is a shame as i would really love him at the Hawks, this guy will be a star!

PS. i know i spell Tape's name wrong in the poll but i don't know how to edit it :(

Lamb because I reckon he would come in and play straight away.

Tape would be behind a few KPDs and might take a few years till he's ready to go.

Lamb. We need smaller forwards that can assist the big boys on the score board. And we needed them yesterday.

Not sure how the club is thinking about the Spangher situation either.

We have enough young KPD's. We just have to develop them. Lamb has a beautiful kick apparently so he is my choice. No matter who we pick though, I will welcome them with open arms to the family club.

Lamb for me too.

We have Schoe, Milne, possibly Spangher and then there is Lisle.

A genuine smart medium/small forward who can kick goals from any angle, really compliment Buddy, Roughie and Lisle (if he plays forward) and of course Hale, is a no brainer for me.

Lamb is said to have that X factor. He and Cyril.........

All the talk about our need for a CHB hides the fact we also need a forward who can kick them out his arse. Lamb for me; I've seen him play and he's a ripper.

well Tape has beaten both Hentschel and Scott Welsh

Lamb is a lazy forward pocket who gets fed goals at a crappy lower level junior level...........

i wonder who?

if we're going for a forward Kieran Harper is 10x better then theres Cameron Johnston and Ariel Steinberg who are huge forward talents...........

if we can get Isaac Smith/Brad Harvey/Luke Parker/Josh Caddy(if he slides) as second pick i'd be wrapped

It almost feels weird that we would chase a Forward Pocket so hard, but in saying that, we desperately need one. We have Ossie as a proven performer - but who had a bad year & suffered for our game plan; & we have Bruest who has never played a game at AFL level.

We need some small forward power so I guess it is Lamb. I did like reading about that Harper guy from Davo's other thread but he doesn't seem like a pocket player.

It is a win win if we get either.

I went for Tape as I reckon:

1. We need some more rebounding defenders. Ones who can actually break the lines. You cannot have enough. Look at the Swans - they have about 5. The pies have a couple of gun ones.

2. He looks like more of a man body-wise who would be closer to playing senior football than a skinny 181cm trickster in Lamb who body-wise looks less likely to make it. We have learnt our lesson with Ellis about drafting a skinny junior who has trouble getting through seasons without getting smashed due to a fragile body. We need to draft players who will become men.

3. I want to see Rioli up forward more than midfield in 2011 - we are a different side with him in the forward 50 - so I am not as sold on us needing another small forward as others - not with our first draft pick anyway.

I would prefer Lamb for sure.
He is deadly accurate and kicks goals from freakish positions.
It would be great to get a player in the forward line that is a reliable shot for goal, Buddy and Roughy can be a bit hit and miss.

As for Tape, we have too many at his height already, if we go for a defender I would prefer we go for someone taller as thats what the backline currently lacks.

Don't be so glum about chasing a forward pocket Brant.

The last one we chased with our first round draft pick was a player you may have heard of - Cyril Rioli at pick 12.

If we could get Matthew Watson, he'd be my first choice, but it seems unlikely that he'll still be around.

I'd take Lamb over Tape. We already have loads of players who are not quite tall enough to be KPPs.

I voted for Lamb out of these 2, I think he could turn out to be a Porplezia type who would give our forward line more variety. We haven't replaced Williams who was very important in our forward half. Tape reminds me a lot of Stratton, probably wins more footy but very similar. I think we can get Blayne Wilson later in the draft who I think will be as good as Tape.

Would be happy with Jed Lamb, Keiren Harper, Jayden Pitt, Brodie Smith, Jamie Cripps or Dion Prestia at pick 19, one of these guys will be available.
