Biglands can develop into a defensive player. He can play the sort of role that David Pittman did. He has the pace and Bulk to worry the likes of Lynch

As for Dubieniecki and Griffiths, if we dont draft them then at least let them have a shot at a rookie list position.

Dubieniecki will be taken in the National Draft so I doubt he will still be available for a Rookie Draft

Seaby is a better prospect and a lot better in field play than Jamar. Either will do me fine tho. Seaby is the one more likely to be available.

Not really. Brisbane let him go cos they thought he was no good. He is a great SANFL player but I have my reservations about his ability at AFL level

Biglands has had since 2000 to develop his game and play the type of roles that Pitto once did. We have been hoping since 2000 that Biglands can do the defensive jobs. He is not up to it.

It's not gonna happen. With Clarke going within a year or so, he will be needed to lead the ruck team. That's where Biglands real value to the team is.
 
I agree - Biglands is no Pittman - he needs to be ready to take over the ruck fulltime in a year or two - if anything he probably better value in attack than defence if used elsewhere!

Burns' hardness at the ball would be a great asset to our side but...

He turns 29 during the off season and I'm not so keen on Adelaide going for another short term option. We need to start developing young players.

So I wouldn't want to give up too much for him. Say a second round draft pick or a fringe player or two. Which would obviously be unacceptable from Collingwood's point of view.

Burns is a really great player. Should have been All-Australian this year IMO.

But I agree with Dave that the Crows can't go for any more short-term fixes. Burns is 29 and what we would offer would probably be unnaceptable as Dave says above.

Well i would have a go for S Burns provided he came across under conditions much like to what R Burns cost us,


After watching sundays semi on the ABC i can't say i am overly excited by what i saw from the Crow listed players,

Shipworth was probably the best of them he picked quite a few possessions & put his body on the line but his disposal still leaves a lot to desired,

Bock & Hentschel had fair games but boy do they need to bulk up over the summer if they are both to make an impact in the AFL next year,

Reilly & Begley were pretty average in my opinion & maybe the trip to Queensland didn't sit to well with them,

Nelson was ok but he is not up to AFL standard & will more than likely be delisted,

Have never seen Parker play but if he has anything at all in his make-up than put him on our list straight away,

If Rutten & Schuback don't come on next year i believe our long term future is not looking rosy at all,

Fair call. I will be watching Rutten this week. I hope he doesnt play too well ... go you Doggies!

With all this talk of needing a strong marking ruckman, what happens if we get one that can play straight away?

I'm expecting us to get kids who will learn their craft in the SANFL, but if we can get one that take the reigns from Round 1 2004...

Will Clarke be pushed out? Anyone else think his best days are behind him?

If we could find another ruckman (/forward), I would consider trading Clarke.

I heard a whisper Clarke was contemplating retirement, though I'm not sure of the reliability of this source. Probably very unlikely.

But it would leave us up *hit creek with a 'log' for a paddle! ;)

I heard that at the start of the year. I agree that if he does go and we dont top up our ruck stocks we are stuffed.
 
I listened to Gary Ayers on 5AA today and his number one priority is a big strong Key Defender. He would also love a good ruckman that offers something around the ground. I just hope they don't screw it up by going for another quick fix.

Heard a rumour from one of my sources that we are interested in Lade.:( Unfortunately I see him as a quick fix and not a good one at that:(

Glenelg have several young ruckmen at present however Josh Kruger who is a huge mark looks the pick. However having seen 15 Glenelg games this year I think that Griffiths is worth a punt and despite being 207 cm is a very mobile young talent.

I dont think Griffo has been given a fair go by the Bays. He can be inconsistant but they havent got the best out of him. The last Dogs V Tiges match was a good exapmle - Glenelg behind all day and Griffo is on the pine while the bays have no big targets. In the last quarter they throw Griff up forward and hey, they start kicking goals. why wasnt he there sooner?

What does everyone else think of these two? at the very least they should be invited down to pre season training.

Michael Griffiths - Think Ben Marsh with less talent.
His only assett is his height. Too skinny and poor skills.
He would've spent the whole year in the reserves if Golding had not done his knee in the last minutes of round 2.

If you want an SANFL ruck, what about Parry? Would end up as a KP in the AFL but could be a pinch hit ruckman.

Athletic 194 cm is not exactly a ruckman in AFL circles. One thing is for sure, he would make one hell of a CHB.
