Tarrant Down Back

I must admit I have enjoyed watching Medhurst in AA form but it has been soured with Tarrants poor first year. Always loved Medders and I hope he gets back from injury soon. Last year he was pretty good but his new lease on life down back has been great. Any thoughts on his new role.

I love Taz, always will. Great move for him down back, I remember it got thrown up as an idea around here a few times when he was still with us.

He has all the attributes to be a real good attacking KP backman. His goal kicking was always questionable, but his field kicking is very good. Athletic, mobile and has good closing speed, seems like a pretty simple choice for me

Scratch that. I was ecstatic. Especially since the trade was for Medhurst who I'd always liked at Fremantle.

Having said that, I am happy to see him doing well at Freo in the defense.

Gave Fev a flogging last night. Fev was a lot more than 50% fit, he just had a dose of the sooks once he realised he couldn't beat Taz for pace or strength.

Obviously you didnt see him beat Lecras last week and O'keefe the week before. Cannot question his commitment this year. Last year he would of been OK if he could kick straight.

Was my favourite player when he was here.

At the time was very disappointed we traded him, not so much for pick 8 but for Medhurst. All I can say is that hindsight is a wonderful thing.

As for Taz, I had my doubts over him as a key defender. However, his application has been terrific and is beginning to take some big scalps.

Good on him and I am absolutely rapt he destroyed Fev, fit or not. Once you cross that line, you are declared fit to play and even Ratten said he was fine.

I always said to throw him on a wing. Get him away from the goals.

But after seeing him as a Key Defender, this is the right move for Taz.

My thoughts exactly DT13 watching it yesterday. I wondered if MM had have flipped him to the backline our current backline would be fantastic with Presti - certainly against Carlton and Hawthorn.

Now that we can prove players can play at different positions (Jack Anthony from fullback to full forward.....Tarrant from full forward to full back). Why not give Nathan Brown a go?

Cloke is having a shocker year and is one of the worst forwards going around in terms of form at the moment. Why not drop him to VFL? Give Brown a go up in the forward line. Nothing wrong with experimenting, it's how we found out about Jack.

He's playing good but I imagined him as a loose CHB getting a lot of the ball like Bock/S.Fisher. Obviously the role he's doing now is just as important but I think he has the potential to offer more attack from defence.

I watched the last quarter on 10 digital yesterday. Taz was great. He looked comfortable and happy in the role and like everyone else on the Pies board I was rapt to see him tear Fev a new one. I really hope he continues on with his good form.

Was just about my favourite player when he was with us, so it's great to see him resurrect a career that looked in trouble not so long ago.... and kudos to Mark Harvey for trying him down back.

Don't get me wrong, I love Medhurst, and he's been great since coming to the Pies. However, I was just thinking about this last night - imagine hypothetically if we still had Chris Tarrant, but didn't have Paul Medhurst. Then, imagine a back 6 like this:

Tarrant - Pretigiacomo - O'Brien
Shaw - Brown - Maxwell

Presti, Tarrant and Rambo could take the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd best forwards respectively, leaving the 4th to Harry, the 5th to Max and the last to Heater. How good would that defense be!
