WTF is going on???????????? Almost everyone agreed that he was good last year. Now after two shit games people are saying that they wouldn't mind if he pulled the pin.

THANKYOU DOMINGUEZ,

FFS I agree 100%. So many people are so quick to jump on the Freo bagging threads that it really pisses me off. He was good last year. He kicked enough goals, had enough possessions and ran alot of km's. Sure he missed a few (well quite a few) easy ones but he was in no means the reason for Freo's failure last year.

Mundy is another prime example. 2 games out of three in the votes IMO and he has one game where he does not score enough dream team points and people jump on his back.

I just feel people look at a win and everyone is great and a loss and we are crap. Basically if we lose then pick the scapegoat of the week and jump on board. :thumbsd:

Anyway that is my whinge for the month at least we can enjoy 2 wins in a row and get behind the boys now instead of bagging them.

in an interview with FTV (fremantle tv) before the purple haze game, taz mentioned that a family member of his has cancer. if the rumours are true, maybe this is why he wants to go back to Melbourne????

despite his form in our first two games, i think it would be very dissapointing to see him go home..

If he quits without costing our Club financially then good luck to him.

PS.
I reckon we could easily cover for him.

He contributes a lot more than Murphy or Campbell neither of which have shown they should be best 22 this year. That leaves moving one of the tall backmen in Johnson, Mundy or MacPharlin forward. MacPharlin forward has only really been successful as a third tall forward from memory, and I personally don't want to see the others there.

The other talls who may sit up forward are totally unknown; Drum, Warnock and I guess Bradley.

Without Tarrant it becomes difficult to see Pavlich getting a run midfield, and extremely likely that he will get absolutely mauled in the forward line as our only tall option.

<Rant>
I am one who is overly critical of Tarrant and it's not his fault. I'm sure he's a great guy who works really hard at training and does all the right things but to me he represents the bad old days. Freo trading away homegrown talent trying to buy a team of ready made stars. To me it's short sighted, stupid behaviour. It makes no sense on any level. We had a really good team at the end of 2006 and all we had to do was go to the draft and grab the best midfielder available with our pick and we would have seriously challenged last year. Instead we did what we've always done. Bought some magic beans with our cow. Instead of being patient and following the gradual development path Cameron and Chris tried to buy a flag. They set the player development back about 2 years with the result that we have now fallen behind clubs like Hawthorn and Collingwood who have been developing their squads through the draft. And now instead of cutting our losses, playing some youngsters and getting ready for a mini rebuilding phase we have to try and justify paying Tarrant big bucks for the next 3 years to kick 1.5 on a good day and keep a developing player out of the team. (Murphy, Drum etc)
None of this is Tarrant's fault, he is just the focus of my frustration with our administrators and football dept's short sighted behaviour at the end of 06.
<RANT/>

FWIW I think Harvey (other than the team picked for round 1) is doing a good job so far, I'm wrapped to have Chris Bond around and wrapped with what I've seen from our young players so far. Mayne & Palmer bleed purple already. They are the future, not overpaid imports.

Back injury for Taz (think he may have had a cortisone injection yesterday and didn't come up for today), McPharlin has a bruised hip, think they said he'd be ok for next week.

Elvis is a bit more serious than a sore hip- I wouldn't be surprised if he missed this week also as a precaution.

I think that Harvey coming from the bummers background where they encourage and promote youngsters - you'll see a different Tatter also duff beer.

Perhaps a little from left field, but given the success so far of the Peter Bell/Gero experiment, is there any chance Taz is going to do the same from Melbourne?

Taz is a quality player and should be given a few more chances yet. i mean it doesnt help him when he has the likes of schammer, matt carr, peake adn mcmanus kicking it to him, worst job in the AFL being a freo forward

no bullshit or trolling intended here..I just received an email from a reliable source in Melbourne which suggests what the author of this thread is hinting at.

if anyone wants a copy of the email then feel free to ask...it is legit the email, my friend in Melbourne is actually asking if I or anyone else over here has heard similar.

stuff it, read for yourselves.

how ya doing young fella?, word is Chris Tarrant not a happy camper and may even retire during the week.............heard anything at all?
my mail is he regrets his move and not much sympathy from anyone, a source close to him at Carlton apparently said he's in a bad head space...
is Josh Kennedy suspended for disciplenary reasons or actually injured?

Hmm, whatever will be will be.
Free up some space in the cap, I woulda thunk?

Depends on what the AFL allow Lach. May make room for next year (Nockers?) but certainly wouldn't affect this year. Would leave a pretty big hole in the list too (heaven help us if Pav gets hurt). Murph or Campbell will well and truly have to step up.

Let's hope it's all just some random beat up rumour. We don't need any distractions.

Interesting.

If true it pretty much backs up my rant the other day that he doesn't care about the FFC and isn't interested in playing for us.

Maybe I should become one of those body language experts. ;)

backs up what I said too...he simply doesn't want to be in Western Australia.

I suppose forget any heresy or rumours, the fact he is going to speak to the media during the week? What in the world could it possibly be about. Maybe he is planning to sit out this season and re gear himself for next year or he needs a few months i dont know. Either way if he wants a break or time away or doesnt want to play for us full stop. Get rid of him. What we sacrificed to get him means he deserves no more favours.

im hoping that he will just put an end to all the speculation

i personally think the guy is just out of form

Agreed but Taz hasn't been right for 4 years. When we drafted him i always thought why would a guy like Mick Malthouse let him go? Unless he knew tarrant was a spent force.

so far ive heard harvey has said
Tarrant should be right to play next week
and
Tarrant will be releasing a statement soon.

So my guess is tarrant will be coming out an saying hes had serious back issues which have been holding him down.
Someone mentioned family member with cancer.
So another one might be hes had alot on his mind recently an hopes to get his head back in the game.

Dont think he plans on giving up he loves football coz it helps him pickup in niteclubs .

When you consider we could have traded Polak (who wanted to go) for a pick upgrade and kept Medhurst - another flighty, mercurial, confidence player - it's staggeringly obvious that we ballsed up that trade.

This will be the statement Tarrent will release during the week, I dont have any solid proof and am just going on here say of someone close to the dockers, so I will not say which family member, but it is someone very close to Tarrent and in his immediate family.

If it turns out to be true then Tarrants poor performances are clearly a direct result of this, no person in their right mind would be able to function properly in any occupation, let alone a high profile AFL footballer if they were in the situation I believe Tarrant to be in

People who have started these rumours that Taz wants to leave because he simply does not like Perth should really get their facts straight, Taz has gone on record saying he loves WA

But like i said once Chris releases this statement and discloses which family member it is, hopefully it will release a lot of pressure of of him in terms of the media and the football public in general. I was very critical of his first two games but once i found this out it clearly puts things into perspective, lets just hope it does the same for everyone, and we wish Taz and his family the best

That's what we did, Polak and pick 13 for pick 8. Some tosser just decided to gift that pick to the Pies.

It was staggeringly obvious in October 2006 that we ballsed it up.

If a close member of Tarrants family does have cancer (or a life ending illness) and thats why he wants to go home, then i'd completly understand and hopefully freo will honour his wishes.

regarding medhurst i think he had to be traded and was never going to become the player he is now at fremantle. needed a change of scene for sure.
