It’s a way of keeping the “state team” vibe, but without going for a straight copy of the state guernsey.

Yes they made a nice pivot when they saw the backlash. I have little doubt the state jumper was intended to be the home jumper until it got smashed online. It's scary actually how out of touch these AFL boards are, we saw how terrible the suns and giants launches were initially too.

I followed it closely at the time and never had that perception. Even the reiwoldts were strong advocates for the state jumper being the permanent home jumper and celebrated when it was released. It was a constant debate on sen Tasmania, guys like Shaw and the Reiwoldts won, yet once it copped backlash it all of a sudden became only a foundation jumper and not the permanent home jumper as planned.

Can confirm from AFL licensing.
State jumper design might get trotted out from time to time, and then with something like names or similar to distinguish it from an actual State jumper.

The way they talked about it, I think the map will always make up the literal 'foundation' of the jumper, but it will have unique design elements that come and go over time. It sounded to me like they plan on treating it like a European soccer kit.
