Tattooed people, consciously or subconsciously, want to be noticed and unfortunately they don't get to choose whether the attention the tattoes receive will be of a positive or negative nature.

It doesn't make someone unintelligent at all, but what it DOES make them is exposed to people's preconceived judgements and stereotypes. I've never been in the position where I've had to hire someone with a visible tattoo but if I did it would count against them as I wouldn't want someone to be willfully seeking to attract attention in a professional work environment. Same goes with face piercings, extravagant haircuts, etc. It's a workplace, not a nightclub.

If people dont like it, suck it up and deal with it.

Most of us do suck it up and deal with it.......we have no choice.

I'm lucky that I am of both an age and a position in my life where I don't give a toss either way but I sure as hell know that I won't make a decision on hiring someone on whether they are tattooed or not. I have more respect for my company than that.

It shouldn't affect people's chances of getting a job or getting anything in life but thats the risk they take, and if they don't consider it before getting inked up, then they are silly little billies.

Risk versus reward, just like anything in life. If the joy and self-attainment from the artistry of the ink is worth hedging against the risk of beig judged, then more power to you

I don't fear being judged at all........as i said my position in life allows me that luxury.

What do you kids say......"Come at me, brah" :D

When I say 'you' I mean it rhetorically sorry, I don't mean to refer to you personally

I apply the same principle with my weight. If I wasn't so overweight I would probably get laid more, but I am more interested in eating and avoiding having to interact with people. Risk versus reward.

I f****** hate people in general more than I do bogans

The couple that run the local chicken shop are super nice both are covered in tatts but you would not know there always covered up. but l was having a chat oneday and he said about the tatts they had.he said they had freinds over the winter but come summer not many people would go near them.

Such an innocent thread for its time. Most people under 40 now have tattoos. A lot of these same people are now in management. Non-issue. I don't have tattoos myself and am in the minority.

Visible tattoos will preclude you from certain positions in the military ie recruiting and anywhere you need to deal with the public or be able to blend in and not be noticed.

there's a lot of folks with tattoos but i'd still say non-tattoo'd are in the majority

I reckon very close to 50/50, think of all the people with non visible tattoos in regular clothes. There's a lot at my work that are covered by the standard uniform.

What is the policy on long hair? Seems like the only place I've seen long haired soldiers is in the movies. Same for coppers.

Tattooed people look like branded livestock.

It's the most ridiculous fashion trend in the history of Western civilisation and has destroyed the appearances of the sheepish morons who have it.

I've also noticed tattoo enthusiasts are the most easily offended subculture of people. They are always offended when someone says anything negative about having tatts. Will not take a joke.

I'm deeply offended by your tattooist bigotry.
