Re: Tattoo's

fad/fad/

Noun: An intense and widely shared enthusiasm for something, esp. one that is short-lived; a craze.

I think that sums it up.

Tattoos have been popular for a long time...There may be a growing interest in them, but they certainly aren't a fad. You just shot yourself in the foot with that definition.

We live with all different types and backgrounds, some keen to keep their roots.

You out-do yourself with another tangent and even more irrelevant comments.

I'm yet to meet someone in Australia with tattoos who comes from a tribal background.

The tattoo fad may not be short-lived, but it certainly is a craze. The popularity of tattoos in Western culture has escalated dramatically in the past decade.

I have met a lot of Maori people who have tattoos because of their heritage.
I know an aboriginal guy who will be the elder of his tribe one day, who has tattoos celebrating his tribe, because he is proud of his heritage.

People show things that mean something to them in different ways, some do it through tattoos.

Hell, Dustin Martin has tattoos on his neck because of his Maori background. He is proud of it, so he has it for everyone to see.

Maybe you need to get out more?

It's increase is all the better, less stereotypical attitudes such as yours towards people again, the better :thumbsu:

There are obvious exceptions. Most use it as an excuse to get a tattoo.

I argue that if you don't have any desire to follow traditional tribal customs other than to get a tattoo, it shows a lack of depth in understanding true heritage.

In my view, getting a tattoo to display pride is a sign of conceit.

You will one day grasp the english language and the ability to edit and follow response's to previous comment's etc...

Back-peddling but your most articulate comment so far, well done.

High self esteem is fair enough :thumbsu:

I thought Dustin got tattoos on his neck because he is a massive douche and wanted everyone to see it?

Eliteism at it's absolute best.

Sounds like the tatoo a serial killer had in an episode of Criminal Minds except where the flowers are in your example were the faces of his victims

I havent seen the episode that you're referring to, but yes it sounds similar. I have searched for hours looking for that episode on LA Ink but without luck :(

Tattoos have most certainly been popular for a long time but surely you can't argue that certain styles of tattoos become more popular and trendy?

For instance, in the 70s and 80s sailor-esque tattoos on the outside of the forearms and shoulders, 90s and 00s it progresses to inside the forearm and onto the bicep.

One arm covered in a sleeve tattoo with a v-neck shirt, skinny jeans and vans isn't a look that you haven't seen more than once?

I agree. But I would just put that down to changing times, similar to music.
