I'd say they'll take Geelongs 15 and Varcoe over our 11 myself.
GWS has already turned down Varcoe publicly.

Adams will be a pie next year, it's just a matter of whether the deal is done in a few days (once Shaw makes up his mind), or if we have to wait until the AFL hands out the compensation picks later this month.

Just saw a tweet from Trade Radio relating to Adams' manager.

11 will get it done if Shaw doesn't want to go.

As I said, earlier, it looks like we're getting him, just a matter of how. In an ideal world, Shaw would stop being a stupid dick and just go to GWS, but at worst we give up pick 11 for a 20 year old mid who is worth at least pick 11. Could be far worse.
And we'll still get something else for Shaw if he goes somewhere other than GWS. Cats pick 15 maybe

He's a Geelong boy (well close enough).
And Beamsey is a banana bender but he ain't going back in the short term at least.
Location is a factor, as is money, facilities and off field opportunities.

Very often its a combination of factors that influence the big decisions in life - at least those we don't regret making in the long run.

I think that's a bit harsh.
We bag everyone when they want to leave for money and now we'll bag Heater if he decides to take a direction to be potentially part of another flag. I think this shows the character of a bloke that most in here are willing to throw away.
If we get Adam's i'm not too fazed, but otherwise I don't want to see him go.

Light a candle of course! If you are unhappy with the direction of the club offer your services in whatever capacity you think might be of service. Alternatively you could join the Hawks cheer squad. . . look that's tongue in cheek as I know you are a Pies man through and through but seriously. . . The Hawks have been good since the introduction of the AFL, considering the number of teams now vying for a flag and the increased rate of injuries due to the AFL's fumbling of the interchange laws but so have the Cats and so have we.

Forget the media hype and look at the figures since the introduction of the AFL, everything balances out in the end.
No, the best clubs win the most flags as they ahve in any era and Hawks have been good across eras whereas we haven't. Mate I've gone home crying as kid after a 5 point loss in a GF and an 80pt thumping. I want us to win flags. As for offerring services - lets just say I know a bit about how the club works and it doesn't work like that.

Plus Varcoe has publicly stated he doesn't wan to leave Geelong. I think the Cats are in a rock and a hard place. Don't want to give up 15 but having nothing else of value to trade.

I'm just trying to say that Adams would have no problem going to Geelong. I'd be surprised if it wasn't his preference all things being equal.

I'd normally agree with you but I'm the exception to the rule.

Heath Shaw has ALWAYS pissed me off. A quick look in my post history will tell you that. So yeah, he's being a dick if he doesn't go to GWS.

I agree if all things are equal, or nearly so then being on home turf would be attractive. It all comes down to who offers the best package in my opinion, years ago players made decisions with their hearts or simply with their wallets - nowadays there is so much more to consider, hence the rise in managers.

You're a Mod, I agree with you
I have no power on this board, disagree away.

Shaw has always pissed me off. For ME, his negatives always outweighed his positives, and there were always playes that did the things he did better.

Marley Williams and Toovey are both better one on one defenders who don't give away stupid free kicks constantly.
Harry and Seedsman (sson young) provide just as much run and carry

So for me, I have no issue trading him for a high pick or good young player. We gain a goal or two a game simply by him no longer beig there.

What pisses me off the most about Shaw? What REALLY farking gets my goat? His brain snaps/fades come at the WORST times in games. Almost always when the game is at that tipping point. Against Freo he did it when we were in control and on the way back (or just in front if memory serves).

Against Hawthorn we were in control of that match, then Heath decides to stupidly give away a 50 for absolutely no reason whatsoever other than being a complete dick.

Against Port, gives away 2 unnecessary frees that gift goal to Anus Wantfrees and then gets sucked in and gives him another.

I just can't deal with his dickness anymore.

Scott Burns on SEN yesterday said he was 'excited' about Collingwood's playing group because normally a team that uses 40 players in a season is around the bottom 3 whereas we played finals. We are doing a pretty good job of transitioning and if a few things go our way this trade period we will still be a good side next year. Never any guarantees but I'm excited about 2015/2016.
Yeah I listened to that as well.

Loved what Burns had to say and he didn't sound over enthused or fake, which made what he said even more comforting. In all honesty, the stats back him.

Most clubs that use 40 players or more are in the bottom 4 of the comp. Last year was Geelong's worst since 2006 and they used 38 players, coincidence? We were essentially one game off top 4 using 40 players and having serious issues with player buy in.

Imagine what we could do with some luck, an easier draw and players jumping on board?

Is anyone else having trouble with their workplace productivity this week? Apart from anything else I wish we could start to get a few trades and draft picks confirmed so I can bloody get some work done.
Yes, me too.
But that may have more to do with my ADD.

Ed are you delerious man? Or just delusional??

Collingwood with luck or an easy draw LOL

We've had a hideous run with multiple long term injuries to key players for three seasons now and any Pies supporter who imagines the AFL are EVER going to give us an even break in the draw need to let go of mummies apron strings and get a job.

Yeah! Felt exactly the same. My brother has spent all year making the point that we have been cruelled by circumstance. Tend to think there is some truth in it, although we also do have some list needs to address but I totally agree, if we can come out of this trade/FA period with some more 'high end' talent I'll be approaching next season with excitement and enthusiasm. Even if we don't win the flag or make top four, at least we will be watching a team building toward something really good!

I think we will have to wait until the Daisy compensation is worked out.
