Ed are you delerious man? Or just delusional??

Collingwood with luck or an easy draw LOL

We've had a hideous run with multiple long term injuries to key players for three seasons now and any Pies supporter who imagines the AFL are EVER going to give us an even break in the draw need to let go of mummies apron strings and get a job.
They've changed the system on how they do the draw.

By finishing "eighth" we slip into an easier part of the draw. So theoretically our draw should be easier than it has been the last 5 years.

While we're underpinning the AFL's attendance numbers, we'll only get a fair-to-favourable draw when the Vic-based clubs (Carltank, Rich, Ess especially) are collectively weak. Not the case currently, obviously.

There are no other teams.

Should be the easiest draw since 2011, that was by far our best draw since 2010 anyway.
That was the year we played in bursts & everyone raves about.

But in terms of who we played, it was still a hard draw.

We were actually ranked as having the hardest that year (or second hardest).

There are too many pre conditions though. We are unlikley to go to Perth twice because we'll go to Sydney & Brisbane to prop their P&L up and once you slot in 1 trip to Adelaide that's our travel accounted for because of the number of Vic clubs that want to host us - and that has to include Queens Birthday. We will play Essendon and Carlton twice and most likely also Richmond. If the AFL thinks we'll be a strong side we won't play the new franchises twice. When you factor all this in we can't have draw that varies much with our ladder finish.

17 teams once and Essendon, Carlton and Richmond twice accounts for all but 2 games which in all likelyhood will be big drawing games at the G given we'll play a couple of home games against interstaters at Etihad.

The 2010 draw was actually the toughest draw when it was formulated, based on finishing ladder positions in 2009.

Yep many here were complaining, just shows what a difference a dedicated and enthusiastic playing group can make to a season.

Considering the ins we had that season and the overall youth of our list we were certainly a season or two ahead of even the most optimistic of expectations.

Enthusiasm and buy-in can turn the most daunting of seasons around, this is what Buckley is building toward.

I think our midfield needs some nastiness in it, pendles swan ball beams are too nice sometimes !

TAKE HIS HEAD OFF ADAMS !!! :D
Lol on Adams :) Also to be remembered our 4pete team of the '30's were feared man for man as tremendous competitiors and truly HARD characters - its hard to stop an opponent when you are worried about being crunched from behind

As long as it doesn't cost us free kicks or suspensions, then I don't care.

I am typically far more of a fan of hardness at the pill than whacking a bloke from behind behind play... As long as he doesn't shirk any single contest, doesn't give away frees, and doesn't get suspended, then he can go this.

Don't get me wrong I'm no fan of thuggery, taken in perspective of the times they were the toughest of a very tough lot.

I think the point I'm trying to make is talent alone won't cut it in the big dance - you need to put the fear of god into your opponents to get that edge, whether it is with tactics or physical pressure it doesn't really matter.

Good hard and fair physical pressure is what its all about, combined with decent skill levels and total commitment to the cause.

I agree fully Jonbe - but just to be clear though, the footage shown above is not 'fair physical pressure'.

Channel 7 just reported that Taylor Adams had selected Collingwood as club of choice before flying out for overseas trip and Heath Shaw stated Geelong is his club of choice before he left for Hong Kong.

Repeated Sydney's confirmation that they are working with us to get Jesse White deal done.

I'm not sure what type of populous decisions you think I favour?
Well it appears you favour overpaying an underperforming, unfit and now 26-y-o Dale Thomas to keep him at the club, instead of facing the realities of today's AFL in the era of FA and letting him go while we get reasonable compensation and salary cap relief.

This is a tough decision made by the club and yet you're proclaiming it as a failure already, an inability of Buckley to keep Dale happy, and somehow lumping it in with a history of failure from a bygone era.
