Do we really want to allow Heath to go to Geelong.

What can they offer us?

Pick 15 is not enough, so do we push for a Vardy or someone like that (haven't even thought about their list yet) with pick 15?

Channel 7 just reported that Taylor Adams had selected Collingwood as club of choice before flying out for overseas trip and Heath Shaw stated Geelong is his club of choice before he left for Hong Kong.

Repeated Sydney's confirmation that they are working with us to get Jesse White deal done.
Hope saw settles for GWS to help us out. If not we will have to use pick 10/11 for adams.. and what could we get from geelong for shaw? heard they won't do pick 15

To be honest I am quite comfortable in dealing with Geelong for Heater because I am prepared (as I am sure the club is) to get him to the club of his choice as a parting gesture. That's not to say we are going to give him away and accept anything but IMO I think pick 15 is a pretty fair offer for Heath Shaw. Anything less and it's a no deal.

The fact that they are prepared to offer Shaw a 4yr contract suggests they are very interested in securing him.

Forget what Cats fans think, this is a true indication that Geelong will offer pick 15 for him. You don't go around offering 4yr contracts if you ain't keen.

Taylor Adams' manager Scott Lucas said on SEN radio a few minutes ago there is "little to no chance of Adams remaining at GWS, and his preference is either Geelong or Collingwood - whoever can get the deal done".

Could we send pick 15 to GWS for Adams? Or is that not enough? Would make it a simple trade. GWS must be getting frustrated by not getting any experienced players wanting to go there

We really should start a good trading relationship with them IMO, no need trying to screw them over a few draft spots. IMO

I am not fussed get pick 15 for shaw then trade it on for taylor.

dont give them 10,11.
Spot on.

Would even give a sweetener if they wanted (e.g. take their 3 round for our second round, or throw in a prospect or something).

Just for the love of god, get Adams, and don't lose 10/11.

If push comes to shove and we have to offer 11, so be it.

Hardly worth the argy-bargy between 11 or 15.
I agree with the premise of dealing with them in good faith etc etc. But a 4 pick difference might well be worth it in the 1st round of the draft. Probably more to us than GWS considering the large number of quality kids they have.

It may well have to happen, and we will live with it, but I'd hate for Hine to have his heart set on player number 334724647, only to hear his name read out at pick 14.

When do we find out whether we get pick 11. Is it during the trade period and then can we trade it? I know Hine likes to have consecutive picks together but I'd be happy to give up one of 10 or 11 if we still have pick 15 up our sleeve

Swings and roundabouts.

No need to put them over a barrel unnecessarily. Deal in good faith because in the near future, we may be dealing with them again.

We may get Adams, but the major problem with this proposal is Geelong get Shaw. We don't want that.

If Shaw is being difficult hold onto him and phase him out over two years. There won't be an extension from us or interest from other clubs after that.

We've got to look after the club's interests and giving Shaw cheap to Geelong is a double blow. If he is getting inflexible, I think we need to do the same.

Let's be honest, if Shaw goes to Geelong, they can't get Adams anyway, from both a trade currency and probably a cap perspective. So the price of Adams from a trade perspective weakens. He won't stay at GWS, and he won't go anywhere else. If we can't send Shaw to GWS for Adams, let's send him to Geelong and send the compensation to GWS for Adams.
