You have not done so bad yourself with your 'we continue, aimlessly to watch the Taylor Adams glacier inch forward millimetre by millimetre toward some sort of recognisable conclusion', which aptly describes the manner in which the entire trade period has seemed to progress.
Only problem I foresee with that quote is that the glaciers have appreciable movement of late and are shrinking at an alarming rate just watch the doco Chasing Ice. Speaking of which, I've had the odd bout of glacial shrinkage...

Agreed DW - we continue to pawn the future for the pleasures of the moment. Glad I won't be around to experience the massive repurcussions of such cretinous policy, sad my son will have to pay that price.

That's how I recall it too. Massive dukes, no footballing ability. Great pick up.

Perhaps you could say Morrison's whole being and talent were centered in his hands. The remainder of his body only existed as a conduit to channel his abilities and strength to those monstrous appendages. His arms thus resembled stop signs, and when he played baseball, no glove existed that was big enough to fit his hand.

Unfortunately for Morrison, he was drafted to play football rather than handball. He moved on his feet like a man who had once stepped into buckets of cement and remained in that pose until the mix had set.

Thank you for your encouragement WW. You have not done so bad yourself with your 'we continue, aimlessly to watch the Taylor Adams glacier inch forward millimetre by millimetre toward some sort of recognisable conclusion', which aptly describes the manner in which the entire trade period has seemed to progress. Sheer boredom probably produces my more polished pieces. I was a huge Dylan Thomas fan in my formative years, but Jame Joyce 'Ulysses' seemed an impenetrable literary work at uni, mainly because I had not completed the pre-course reading of Greek myths and legends.

I have the greatest respect for Knightmare and would never seek to disrespect him in any way. He never gets flustered, impatient or angry, and seems to have infinite time available to write at great length about the fortunes of up and coming young footballers. For some reason, I imagine his physical appearance to be similar to that of Buckley in Knightmare's avatar. When I request information from him, I often feel like I am sitting at the feet of a very wise and knowledgeable figure, who is also a powerful athlete in his own right - a Tom Hafey or Percy Cerruty like creature with serious keyboard skills. Through treating each request with equal importance, Knightmare is also able to make his questioners feel respected. The fact that I know so little about him only increases the awe in which I hold him.
That's also hilarious GG as you have just perfectly described how I picture and regard the great man (Knightmare) & I completely understood you were not being derogatory. But as you say, the thing I admire most is his patience and respect toward all posters. I always think we're lucky to have him as a 'predominant Pie poster'. As the trade period reaches a crescendo I tend to find myself communicating with him more than my wife. I mentioned this last year and I think he thought I was a bit of a fruit cake although he was ever polite. I'm sure whatever field he works in he would excel at. It is funny on BF how we eventually begin to picture eachother as avatars (!)

'Ulysses' IS impenetrable. Dubliners and Portrait of an Artist are more accessible. But you have a good style yourself! One of the other things I love on BF is the different voices you read. I'm fairly well versed in ancient history if you ever need assistance. But you seem to have a pretty good scope of things already to compare footy to! Cheers.

Maybe Rintoul could play, but we made a bit of a habit over many years of picking up players past their prime - Sam Kekovich, that Andrews guy from Essendon, Geoff Raines and others from that era up to Rintoul and Morrison from recent times.
Rintoul was 26 when we picked him up, same age as Sam Dwyer FWIW.

Genuine LOL.

I'm thinking of HR Puff n Stuff (If you're old enough). Or that other classic text which I've read my kids "Green Eggs and Ham" which contains a fair amount of adult sleeze unbeknownst to most. For example, it contains the line:

" ... would you, could you, with a goat?"

Chris Egan and Richard Cole were our 'most memorable for the wrong reason' number 10 picks. In the Egan draft, we also got a dud west coast player, Chad Morrison, following in the wake of yet another WC player who failed to make an impression in Chad Rintoul. Malthouse's mates. No more old players please! And if other clubs cut players, we should be wary of picking them up. Discards are duds.
Here's to hoping that lack of MM success with above recruiting from his former club is very indicative of future lack of success for DT next year and beyond!

MM - a man who 'loves his boys' (implied by his suggestion he'd never coach against them) so guessing that love leads to overvaluing them?

Or perhaps a mixture of both? WednesdayWarrior has made a highly pertinent observation about the way we view each other as posters, particularly those whose avatars don't feature footballer. There are numerous avatars that seem to reflect some aspect of the poster's personality or interests which isn't immediately apparent to the user. Shpeshal Ed strikes me as a flamboyant, in-your face type from his posts and his avatar. September Action, eddiebankbalance, Wooljay, Joely, The Last Emperor and shade all use animations. jmac70 has a double headed concoction and Rufio's character would be tough to pin down using his avatar because it changes constantly. But yeah avatars often affect the way we visualise other posters.

I was thinking of changing my avatar.

Always loved being pictured as a bottle of sauce.

I thought MyManLynch was another iteration of MyManDawes etc, and only now I've actually bothered to read TGG's signature do I realize my mistake o_O

How long have I been living a lie?

Are you saying that you just assumed that MyManDawes and MyManLynch are one and the same person, even though the MyManDawes 'iteration' changed his name to TheGreatGrundy, while the MyManLynch side of me just kept posting under that username? Is that your contention of is this just a massive misunderstanding of my character and username? Or have I simply misread your post?

I thought you were MyManLynch, and that TheGreatGrundy was an entirely separate person. Not a second persona of yours.

MyManLynch appeared the day Dawes was traded (it was a strategic move to lock in MML & later on sell to MMD), however MML refused to be traded & ran amuck.
MML & TheGreatGrundy have never met.
I am sure there is a MyManWhite lurking out there, waiting to pounce.
