We've been calling for his head, and now its happened. Richard Taylor has been dropped due to poor form. Haynes comes into the team to replace him.

Also, Wirrpunda is almost certain to play, he will be flying into Adelaide today. I don't know if it would be such a good idea to play him, his mind won't exactly be on the game and it might be smart to give someone else a shot.

I reckon if Mrs W wasnt well he wouldnt play! She is obviousley okay so thats why he's playing! He's a champion player and champions can concentrate! Bad luck to Richard Taylor, Goodluck to Haynes

Well actually, she had another heart attack in hospital. She could die from this, and Wirra would be perfectly aware of that. And trust me, it doesn't matter how professional you are, you can't take it out of your mind just like that.

Gee I didnt know that that D4E! Yeah your right that he wont beable to concentrate! Gee poor Wirra..itd suck having to do this when your mum was sick! Poor guy!:(

Mmmm, if that is the case, mayhaps Wirra should really be with his Mum and not worry about playing.......

When I met Wirra last year at school and he was talking about his family, it came across that his mother was really important to him as he didn't really know his dad that well, as he lived in the NT. If she's really sick and all, I think WC should just say to him, listen mate, even if she is stable, we would prefer for you to stay with your mum. If he does play Sunday, will his mind be up to it?

Well i agree that if she is really not so good(as it sounds like she is) then he should stay with her. I heard on TV what they are going to give him a mental test to see if he is fit to play in that regard.

Wouldn't it be terrible if he flew over, failed the test, flew back and she had died. I reckon for this weekend he should just stay with his Mother.

Yeah thatd be very terriblr EKA! I dont want that to happen! I think that Wirra should stay with his Mum even if it means that we loose! Somethings are just more important than football!

Touchy subjuct regarding Wirra....

Of a similar case....NBA Basketballer and one of the best players in the NBA, Tim Duncan had his father die on Monday, the funeral was on thursday and he missed game 4 of his teams first round playoff matchup. His team lost to make it 2-2 in a best of 5 series. On friday, game 5 was to be played, 1 day after the funeral. He played and led his team to victory.

Dont really know what to take from that but its a similar story.

Or in contrast there's the horrible situation Nicky Winmar went through in 1997.

Hopefully Wirra's mum will recover, but in the meantime I'd rather he not be pressured to play. It should be entirely up to him and his family. Give him all the time and space he needs.....

Best wishes to Mrs W. though :(

I don't believe he will be pressured to play - it will be his decision entirely ie he's in if he wants to be.

Taylor and Munro travelled as emergencies and Wirra didn't fly into Adelaide yesterday. Taylor is expected to play.
After not being selected in the original squad I would expect a huge effort from him.
