Really good stuff from the kid.

Really liked that mark, absolutely team lifting stuff. What was more impressive was that he finished like this after a bit of a fumbling start to the game. Seemed to take two bites a couple of times, but is gonna be a rock.

Something that I have to keep reminding myself though is that he has played a handfull of games. He plays like he has more experience under his belt, and has a little bit of polish as well.

4 games? WoW!

His kicking isn't as polished but he is a tough version of Suckling!
His kicking is great i have seen him down at box hill has a great left foot. Its actually one of the reasons he was still on the list. He was the designated kicker at box hill running out from half back. He has had some injury issues similar to suckers and is finally getting a good run at it. Just lacks the confidence to go for the kicks. As i have mentioned before wait till his confidence is up. Kid can be defensive and is tough and can also mark overhead something suckers failed to show in his repetoirre. Suckers might be banished up field on his return :D

Last night might be a coming of age for him. He is now indisputably in our best backline I reckon. Has had a pretty good year actually and the last month you can see him growing as a player.

Watch him closely and you see that he is legitimately tough, and his positioning is almost flawless. Where he is coming on though is his help defense in the air, and he has that extra split second with the footy that comes with experience and see him making better decisions.

Agree. Past few games have been excellent.

Agree he was excellent last night. Such an advantage that he has that leap on him. If he gets a run up he can match it in the air with the power forwards of the comp. he's continually dropping into the hole and going up for the high ball like Gibbo.

Is coming along nicely.

Thought his start to the year was a bit below where he finished off last year.

Getting back to form though and just hope he continues to develop, believe in himself and can add a few more kgs.

Been very good the last month, a lock in our best 22 now, a long way to go to get to Guerra's level but he is taking steps in the right direction, one thing he does have over Guerra is the ability to take marks, great overhead for his size.

Agree with a lot of the comments here. He really has a good crack when hes playing, love the mongrel in him laid a few hard tackles and bumps last night.

That goal he kicked was a throwback to the Guerra days. Coming off hard on half back and rips out the left foot for an important goal. He's been superb Doc and has made that spot his own.

After seeing him at the GC game I thought he was lucky to hold his place but since then he has gone to the next level and has hardly put a foot out of place.
Friday nights game had few silver linings but he was definitely one of them.

Amazing what a shot of confidence would do. Seems to me that, behind closed doors, Clarko told Duryea that his position was safe in the 22 and he could stop second-guessing himself. When you have the coach's confidence, your game is bound to improve.

Doc was a little shakey earlier in the year after not having a great number of games under his belt.
His game against GC was not AFL level, but Clarko backed him in and continued to play him into form.

He has now lifted to the level we would expect of him, and by far the most encouraging thing is that he's found a little something forward of centre and has kicked a couple of handy goals.

He is our Guerra replacement, and with time will hopefully find consistency and confidence in his performances.

His game on Friday night was infinitely better than his first couple of 2014.
