Forget the pick. Thorp for Maguire straight up. (If he cannot be persuaded to return to St Kilda, which is what we would rather have happen.)

Bubblegoose - Goose on Gold104 this morning stating it is only a matter of putting pen to paper (he is in Thailand at the moment), and Sheldon saying negotiations with X Clarke, Baker & Maguire all well down the road, with all indicating desire to remain at Moorabbin.

Thorp won't be traded, he will be a champion. :thumbsu:

Maguire is a good player that get's injured. Pick 12 + Taylor is a fair offer.

He could possibly go cheaper if he quit, and threatin' a PSD move.

I think he will stay and sign a deal though, so no need to worry.

Gets injured? A freak broken leg, and accompanying complications is not a repeat offender in the injury stakes ...

I too hope he signs soon ... decent CHB's are hard to find.

Why would Hawthorn need him? Croad goes pretty well at CHB ...

He has missed a lot of football last year due to a re-occurence of leg soreness, which I suppose in reality he will be over next year.

We would play Croad at FB, we need two big KPP's allowing Gilham to be our third tall. Maguire will end up staying, but it would be nice if he declared he wanted out (for us anyway) ;)

Maguire and Croad were at similar stages at the same age. Both suffered problems (Maguire & leg, Croad & ego).

Croad attracted the #1 pick.

So, before we get into a full fledged argument about whether Simon Taylor will become the next John Nicholls or Lawrence Bingham, let's just say we disagree on Taylor's worth, huh?

Yep.

He probably returned too early but the fact that once he returned to the team the senior team he was able to finish the season would suggest that he should be OK. He struggled to recapture his form from before the injury but it was always going to take time and he'll be better for it next season.

nah not sherman

wood for maguire would suit both teams really good

brisbane need a chb so bradshaw can play in the forward line 100% of the time

and maguire being good friends with brown could help

and you need a good ruckman

Maguire is an establised CHB. Wood is not an established ruckman. For that trade to happen Brisbane would need to offer Wood plus a player IMO. Sherman appears to be on the outer at Brisbane, and he's the type of midfielder we need. Hence why I suggested him.

BTW Goose is not a particularly close mate to Brown; they just both come from the same part of Victoria.

Doesn't Wood want to return to SA rather than move to Melbourne?

It would suit Brisbane well, not St Kilda.

While Brisbane need a CHB, so do St Kilda. As you said, we need a GOOD ruckman. Wood is a 20 year old who has never had more than 16 hitouts in a game and was overtaken by an 18 year old this year. He will not help us win a premiership.
