I think the brightest point, is this is not some Victorian kid that we have to stress about developing and then takes off in 4-5 years

This kid Is a passionate Crows supporter who WANTS to come here and WANTS to play for the AFC

A key point

How do you know that he is a crow supporter?

Has been stated numerous times in various articles written about him, and he stated it on 9 news earlier in the year

I wonder how much of his being listed as an AFC Apprentice was down to good scouting, and how much could have been him holding out against others advances???

Just a thought:p

I presume ther would have been a fait bit of interest, as IIRC he had a standout tournament at something called the Burke-Green Cup. (Or something similar)

I presume that was an U/16 competition, which quite a few scouts would have been in attendance?

Taylor or one of his friends is obviously a bigfooty reader.

He has that pic that was posted on here on his myspace.

Speaking of which, if you look at what he has listed as his height, it's 190.

And the other thing is this:

Hi i am Taylor Walker, ive in Broken Hill, NSW, love it here and i m 17 and male. Broken Hill is the best place to grow up in and i have loved it ever since i was born, have one brother and one sister live with my mum because parents are seperated. Love football, ever since i come out my mums gate i dreamt of playing in the big smoke. Love my mates, couldnt go without my mates, they are the best people i could ever have. I am tall and skinny. Love Adelaide and Melbourne, hate Sydney! Play for the North Bulldogs at home in the hill and barrack for the mighty Adelaide Crows in the AFL.

He's a champion. You guys have a gooden on your hands.

North premiers for 2007

North made a clean sweep winning all grades in the Aussie rules 2007 competition and youngster Taylor Walker shone on the day, kicking seven goals and winning best on field player.
For Taylor, this was his first senior grand final and after the siren sounded and North were victors, it all got too much for the 17 year old and he was overcome by emotion.

“Playing with all my mates and seeing my brother emotional after his win, it just got to me. I was thinking that game may have been my last in Broken Hill and it was an ideal finish, I just let everything out,” Taylor said.
Friday night and Saturday morning was a nervous time for Taylor and he was feeling the pressure. “Having never played a senior grand final before, I didn’t know what to expect and that made me nervous. When the game started it was intense and both teams were trying to rough each other, but we settled into a rhythm and got there,” Taylor said.

North was on top for most of the game, but a late charge by West had the blue and whites nervous. “They came within six points and I thought, oh no here we go, but we stopped their run and stayed on top,” Taylor said.

The 190 cm Willyama student has Year 11 exams next week, but is finding it hard to concentrate as football has been his main concern. “I will prepare myself for the exams and see how I go,” Taylor said.
Once exams are over, it is back to football for Taylor as he has been invited to the Adelaide Crows draft camp. “I guess they just want me there so they can compare me to the other guys. We will have to do fitness and I want to get stuck into training now,” Taylor said.

Taylor is on a two year scholarship and the Crows is the only club that can draft Taylor. “The scholarship pretty much means that Adelaide has first pick and no other club can have me. If I don’t get drafted this year, then I have to stay in Broken Hill for another year and go through the process again,” Taylor said.

Although Taylor is hoping that he will get drafted, he is not expected too. “I want to get drafted and play in Adelaide next year, but if I don’t I will stay here, finish school and hopefully get picked next year,” Taylor said.
Taylor has natural talent for the game, but without the support of his parents and footy mates he wouldn’t be where he is. “I really want to thank Mum and Dad, Dale Tonkin and all my mates. Aussie rules is a team game and you can’t be successful without your mates,” Taylor said.

^^ sounds like a top bloke. I cant see why we wouldnt draft him this year.

His schooling would be my only concern. May be better for him to finish Year 12 in Broken Hill rather than coming to Adelaide for one year. Its in his long term interests to finish school I would have thought.

Apparently we've got schools in Adelaide, only a rumour though.

Steven Salopek didn’t seem to have any trouble in his first year with Port Adelaide.

Get him down to Adelaide and have him play the season in the SANFL. Get him on the list ASAP before the AFL find a way of screwing us over.

Even if he stays in Broken Hill for his schooling the AFC should be looking at him playing SANFL next year.
