Aye - he'd probably be better off finishing his schooling in Adelaide if that article is any representation of literacy in Broken Hill...

The best news to come out of that is that he's now 190cm tall! And obviously still being only 17, should get taller. AFC'll draft him this year, no question.

PS I've been in London for about five days now and only just heard that Port made the grand final; if the cats are worth their salt they'll wipe the power quite comfortably. Also congrats to Bartel and if only we had won more games this year for Macca's sake. :(

Apparently we've got schools in Adelaide, only a rumour though.

That's really a stupid response.

Having moved shcools a fair bit I understand what a disruption it can be.

Clearly there are good schools here and my point would only be on considereation.

I think its important to remember that a Taylor is still just a kid and that football isn't the be all and end all.

So the Crow's are not expected to pick him up? Why is that?

According to the writer of that article he's not expected to but who knows what he based that on. Maybe PC is right and the writer just went by what Walker told him.

I'm hoping, just like the Texas Ranger, that he gets drafted next year. I was initially concerned that he has not finished year 12, however it all depends on what he wants to do. I am not sure of the logistics of it all, but he possibly could start an apprentership - if that is where he wants to go? Being drafted and doing year 12 would be bloody hard.

Deledio did it, as did Hart.

I actually think it would help his transition to Adelaide, so he would have other focus than just football. He will have his schooling, be able to have a different circle of friends at his own age and outisde of football, would fill up his time.

So did Salopek.

It depends wha the wants to do. Ellis (Xavier Ellis from Hawks) was pick 2 and he wanted to finish school first... only did 1 training session a week I think? I'm not really sure how many sessions of trainings he did but I'm pretty sure he didn't play AFL or VFL matches...

Unless Walker is VanBerlo style intelligent (which is doubtful), AFL represents his best chance at making something of himself in a big way. I am sure Broken Hill produces its fair share of ricket scientists but TW should just concentrate on his footy and finish his final year of high school part time over two years.

I agree with Cocka, be good to get him down here and used to Adelaide life and a new circle of friends. Another year of being the big fish in a small pond will not benefit him one bit. If he starts kicking bags of 10 plus, it surely cant be good for him, compared to working his butt off trying to get an Sanfl legue game. Also at that age alot can happen, get him down here, living with a Van Berlo or Radar would do him the world of good.

Just as a matter of interest when will we find out if Taylor get's the nod and if any of the rookies will be upgraded.

Anytime between Friday the 12th of October (end of the trade period) and Wednesday the 31st of October (list lodgement One)

Rookie listing and father son (would assume the NSW Development scheme would be at this time as well) listed player have to be nominated by 31st of October.

AFL draft is on the 24th of November.

Get him over here, get him in the system and start developing.

He doesn't need to play Footy full time next year, but get him into the Club and get him comfortable, then he can finish year 12 and have a massive tilt the year after, with a strong fitness/strength base already, and his skills developed.

The problem with that is we waste a spot on our list, if we have the run of injuries that we had this year again next year we can't afford to be carrying any players. Ultimately Taylor and his family will decide what's the best thing for his future if that means staying in Broken Hill for 1 more year to finish his schooling then so be it.

I'm not sure, but can we still get him next year if he opts to do his year 12 in Broken Hill?

Or do we need to draft him this year?

I'm pretty sure he's still ours to draft next year if we don't take him this year.

If this isn't correct, then if he really wanted to stay in Broken Hill to finish Year 12 (it sounds like he'd rather move to Adelaide anyway) then he could stay there while on our list. Daniel Currie got drafted to Sydney last year but has stayed in Melbourne to finish his schooling.
